Defiance is the first multi-platform massive online shooter video game that is also a ground-breaking entertainment experience, interconnecting with a global television program on Syfy. The game combines the intense action of a third-person shooter, with the persistence and scale of a massive online game, while its TV counterpart exudes the scope, ...

“A bold and ambitious idea for consoles gives us a hint at the future”
I have enjoyed Defiance since the very beginning, but it hasn’t always been a smooth road of development. Trion Worlds still shows the game love, but do they concentrate too much on content that segments players away from the rest of the open world?

Despite the tedium of the missions, Defiance has a ‘one more go’ thing going for it that other shoot and loot games don't.
Defiance officially launched last week and as seems to be the way with most online game releases, it’s been unstable and difficult to get a solid play session in with the shaky servers being a problem area. As the launch date passed, and some time went by, Defiance’s servers have became smoother and I have finally been able to give it more playtime resulting in what I think is a fair review. It is immediately obvious that Defiance is treading in foreign territory for consoles. All in all there just aren’t that many console MMO’s out there. I must say though, that it is really cool to sit down...
As a huge science-fiction nerd and a fan of shooters, I went in really wanting to like Defiance and its new universe. Thing is, it’s just not very good. Rare well-designed quests are overshadowed by a host of others that feel phoned in, and though the fundamentals of shooting are competent, weak enemy AI makes the PvE combat a bore. Respectable PvP combat goes a long way, but especially when the major performance issues rear their ugly head, it's not far enough to make Defiance a recommendable experience.
Defiance is an ambitious cross-media experiment that aims to, ahem, defy expectations, and it gets awfully close to doing just that. A rich, expansive universe packed to the brim with lore creates a world that you'll want to explore and learn more about. However, questionable design choices, oodles of bugs, and frequent server issues look to undermine the game's positives, which is a real shame as the potential is clear to see.

No doubt a few of you, like me, think of THAT South Park episode when you think of MMORPG titles. Games that seem to sap hours upon hours of your time for very little in the way of rewards at the end of it. After all, when a game can theoretically go on forever, there can be little in the way of a satisfying denouement. Of course the beauty of such a game is taking part in a vibrant world filled with your friends and a few rivals, people you can quest with, level up with and generally wreak h...
You really have to commend Trion Worlds for creating something like Defiance. The prospect of the story aspects are really exciting and I can’t wait to see what happens down the line. The game is rough around the edges but there is no better option for a console lover that is looking for an MMO. It’s a really special feeling to be able to sit infront of your TV and play a game like this.
