Let's celebrate the fact that one of the best adventures of all time is once again playable on PC, and that it's now available on PS4 and PS Vita as well. At 12 quid it's decent value (even if I picked up my copy of "The Entertainment Pack" from Lucasarts that also includes The Dig, Full Throttle and Sam & Max for a fiver just over a decade ago) and it's certainly a game you need to play if you've enjoyed the recent rebirth of the genre. If you've already played it you likely don't need any convincing... All aboard the number nine express train!

After seventeen long years, Grim Fandango finally makes its console debut on the PlayStation 4 and PS Vita. This is a remastered port of one of the best point & click adventures of all time, and the Tim Schafer classic hasn't missed a beat. It's overflowing with fascinating characters and a story full of twists and turns. No matter if you're new to the Land of the Dead or a returning visitor, Grim Fandango Remastered is a must-play.

Grim Fandango Remastered is a must-buy for any fan of the genre’s games from the 90s. It features the same complex, but rewarding puzzles, entertaining writing, and is one of LucasArts’ best games. If you’re not an expert in this sort of game, Grim Fandango is a pretty easy one to get into and enjoy, just keep a walkthrough on hand! Though it may now indeed be a little “frayed around the edges”, this noir-esque adventure game is one not to be missed.

Despite the issues I have with it, Grim Fandango is a fantastic adventure game full of the snappy, witty charm that LucasArts is known for, complete with a stellar atmosphere and great cast of characters. It could have used a couple of enhancements, but Grim Fandango Remastered is a fine port of Manny Calavera’s escapades.

In the end, it's the characters, the environments, the music, the writing, and even the unpredictable puzzles blocking progress that give Grim Fandango its winning identity. New audiences may struggle to turn back the clock and enjoy all its challenges, but if the choice was between preserving a relic and modifying it into a hit, then Double Fine made the right call.
