There are many worlds, but they share a common sky. One sky, one destiny. In Kingdom Hearts 3, these words finally become reality - after many years, the creators close threads scattered across too many games and waiting too long for an epilogue.

Kingdom Hearts III doesn’t go in the direction some RPG fans will no doubt have been hoping for. It’s unashamedly over the top in just about every way, from its barmy story and stunning presentation to its huge cinematic battles. There’s plenty of depth here too, though you’ll need to find your bearings first.

Kingdom Hearts III is a love letter to fans and welcomes newcomers to its crazy world. The story is a fitting end to a long running saga and leaves you wanting more from the Kingdom Hearts universe, Kingdom Hearts III is an epic conclusion and one not to be missed.

Kingdom Hearts is indisputably one of the more cherished video game franchises of recent decades. The amalgamation of Square Enix’s RPG elements along with the eternal, magical world of Disney was a valiant and ultimately cunning move to fascinate consumers of a more widespread age range. It also happens to be a very polarizing one as well. While the familiar charisma of Final Fantasy and Disney references are aplenty, the Achilles Heel of Kingdom Hearts is its convoluted and problematic s...

I've gotten some sense of closure after the credits rolled in Kingdom Hearts 3 and it wasn't quite what I wanted, but that doesn't make it unworthy of being experienced. It's hard to say this game was worth the long wait, as the story is still a mess, but Square-Enix showed some real love in crafting this experience. There's definitely some highs, and quite a few lows, but seeing this journey through is ultimately satisfying. And if you've been in it for the long haul, then you'll probably come away pleased.

Finally we have the music, which is as stellar as always. Kingdom Hearts is known for its fantastic music, and Kingdom Hearts III is no exception. Remixed takes on classic Kingdom Hearts tracks are a nostalgic joy to listen to, while many of the new songs could easily be considered as good as the series other iconic tracks. Some of the voice-acting is wonky (Master Xehanort’s replacement falls unfortunately short of the late Leonard Nimoy), while others are pitch-perfect.

Kingdom Hearts III plays up to the series' strengths, leaving one hell of a closer for fans.

After many years and a multitude of side entries and remasters, Kingdom Hearts III is finally here. There are a lot of threads to tie up, but still plenty of time to go gallivanting around Disney worlds.

It’s hard to believe that the journey that’s seen Sora, King Mickey, and those hearts they’ve touched finally come to a close after so long. For many fans, Kingdom Hearts III has been a title they’ve been waiting most of their lives to finally play. Over the past decade and a half, new sequels and spinoffs have been released on most popular platforms and few other series could hold the honor of needing as many consoles to play through just to get the full story so far. It’s been a long journey of card games, mobile social games, and remasters on the two most recent Sony platforms. Now, all of those years of lore and dramatic fights surrounding The Keyblade War or heartless antagonists is coming to its final curtain call in Kingdom Hearts III.

The thirteen year-long wait for Square-Enix’s Kingdom Hearts III is finally over. The road leading up to Kingdom Hearts III has been long and winding, with several new side stories and many re-releases of previous titles; one had to wonder if we’d ever see the final chapter of Sora’s story. Arguably, it would be hard not to expect anything short of gaming perfection from a release like Kingdom Hearts III due to its lengthy production. Being a huge fan of the series, I had waited patient...

Kingdom Hearts III is a masterful game when it succeeds and a mediocre one when it simply doesn’t.

There’s nothing quite like Kingdom Hearts. It’s like the most elaborate fan fiction of the Disney universe – a digital walkthrough of the movies with a loosely connective narrative tissue that just doesn’t matter much when all is said and done. If you embrace that it’s all nonsense to serve you up a delightful nostalgic romp through some of the greatest and most beloved family films, you’re not going to be disappointed.

Kingdom Hearts III is visually stunning and stays true to what fans have loved about the franchise.

To say that Kingdom Hearts III is highly anticipated is a rather gross underestimation. Fans have been chomping at the bit, frothing at the mouth, add any other metaphor here, for Kingdom Hearts III. I personally have been nervous for KH3 since they announced it would skip the PlayStation 3 generation. Ever since Kingdom Hearts II, the gameplay (and, well, story) in the KH games has been a complete mess. Each game overhauls the combat. Each game adds another element of, “Wait, how does this fit in the overarching story?” Some of the games overly spoon-feed you what you’re supposed to get from the story, and other games shoehorn in multiple styles of combat just for the “fun” of it. All of this adds up to a potential mess of what Kingdom Hearts III could be with story, combat, or both. Plus, there’s this huge expectation on the line that comes from waiting for nearly 15 years. We’ve all had to wait so long. Is there any way at all that Kingdom Hearts III can live up to half these expectations?

A confused and confusing mess of terrible storytelling, simple action, and endless fan service that will delight existing players but baffle new ones.

I completed the game in around 30 hours, and have spent another 7 or so flying around in my Gummi Ship, seeking out additional Lucky Emblems, and exploring what appears to be a fairly hollow post game experience. I still have ultimate weapons to craft, Gummi Ship missions to conquer and hidden Mickeys to collect, and I can easily see myself continuing to play the game to complete the side content that is there.

After seventeen years, the Dark Seeker saga finally comes to its emotional conclusion. Kingdom Hearts III wraps up Sora and Xehanort’s story in a satisfying way that still leaves just enough plot threads open for a new saga to begin. It’s the type of ending so few stories get these days, and it’s told with strong performances from talented actors and gorgeous graphics that capture all the spectacle. It also helps that Kingdom Hearts III is a fantastic game to play with high-flying acrobatics and a series of Disney worlds that show off the game’s mechanics. It’s not the perfect conclusion thanks to some pacing issues, uneven world selection and the Gummi Ship, but they do little to detract from what Kingdom Hearts III does well. From combat to story to graphics, Kingdom Hearts III delivers the magic, gut-punches and grandeur the series is known for. After nearly a decade of waiting, Kingdom Hearts III is the conclusion we’ve wanted and was well worth the wait.

The final chapter of Sora’s story is full of surprises, but it absolutely delivers something that fans have been waiting years for and Square Enix certainly know how to bring a person to tears in a very beautiful way. But the studio has gone above and beyond by giving players so much more to do then just the core story, with a variety of extras to jump back in to. Kingdom Hearts 3 is a thoroughly enjoyable experience that you’ll find yourself wanting to come back to for more.

If Disney has taught us anything, it’s to believe in magic. The company’s partnership with Square Enix may have seemed unlikely 17 years ago, but Kingdom Hearts became a phenomenon with a dedicated fanbase that remained invested in a sprawling story spanning eight entries and multiple consoles. Now, Kingdom Hearts III finally takes the next major step in that journey, giving fans what we’ve been waiting for: resolution. The new installment addresses threads that have been left hanging for years, and it does so by leveraging the Disney magic that seems to make anything possible. The result is the series at its strongest, and most importantly, it provides satisfying answers to the biggest question marks.

Kingdom Hearts II is a long, cameo-infused joyride that improves upon the original and manages to be quite entertaining in spite of a few gameplay flaws.
