Each level has a set of challenges too, and they’re not too hard but not too easy either, such as getting a certain score or defeating enemies a certain way. These challenges are designed in such a way that they encourage and enhance replayability a great deal and give you a great excuse to revisit levels previously completed, and perhaps even play them differently too depending on the challenge. Many of these challenges are tied into new equipment or weapons for Lara and her crew so it’s almost always a recommendation to complete them and they don’t feel tacked on...

A pleasant return to old-fashioned tomb raiding.

Packaged together with some light customization elements and loot drops (stronger weapons and better gear, for example), Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris is a serviceable tomb crawling experience. Its concept is not nearly as novel the second time around, but the addition of four-player co-op is sure to win some over with little resistance. Really, it's the fans of isometric dungeon crawlers that will find the most to enjoy in Temple of Osiris as the Tomb Raider connections are slight. It has decently designed puzzles, mildly engaging combat, and solid visuals, which on their own are enough to...

Lara Croft is back, kicking butt across an isometric playground filled with demons and darkness, just like in The Guardian of Light. Fans of the original spin-off title will feel instantly at home exploring The Temple of Osiris, fighting off alligators in terrible wigs and solving “puzzles” that tend to involve rolling around giant balls. It’s just as fun as it was first time around – even if the temple feels fairly well raided already.

There are still great things to be found in the Temple of Osiris, and those who care less about scoring points or who have some good partners to team up with can still find some fun in it. For me, Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris is a lot like Horus’s staff: it is a treasure that can do great things, but it is cursed.

The reality is if you’re looking for this kind of puzzle-action isometric fix, there’s not a shortage of games out there which can offer it. So presumably Lara herself is the lure, however, like I said before the story and characters were, for me, anything but a strong point. That said, this is a decent game with enjoyable puzzle mechanics, a slick combat system and smooth luminous graphics. Just don’t expect any surprises, you’re getting exactly what you see.

Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris is a passable dungeon crawler, but it's hard to peg it as anything more than that. While the tombs are mostly linear affairs, the puzzles are interesting enough to make them worth exploring, whether alone or with a friend. The boss battles are enjoyable, especially when they incorporate some of those puzzle elements. However, a short runtime of about 5-7 hours (depending on whether you take up some of the 'challenge tombs') and a lack of any real defining characteristic makes Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris the type of game you'll...

Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris is not a bad game, it’s just not a great one. The singleplayer game brings nothing new to the franchise, and in some ways even feels like a step backwards from Guardian Of Light. As a multiplayer game it takes on a different and welcome dimension, though for every great moment, you can expect equal frustration.

Of course the comparison isn’t really a fair one because Temple of Osiris is a completely different kind of gaming experience all together. Many will simply pass over Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris this holiday season and when they do, they are making a mistake as this was one of more enjoyable twin stick puzzle solving games I have played in recent memory.

While digging through Egypt’s national treasures with a rival archaeologist named Carter Bell, professional adventurer Lara Croft accidentally unlocks an ancient prison belonging to the god Set. After being imprisoned by his own brother for several millennia, Set is eager to take his pent up frustrations out on the human race. Thankfully, demigod Isis and her son Horus arrive on the scene, eager to help Lara and Carter send Set packing. The script isn’t highly original, but neither is the rest of the game. While Temple of Osiris kicks the number of co-op players up to four, the game is...

The real treasure in Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris wasn't Lara’s story, bipedal alligator warriors, or a bounty of gems, but solving complex and varied environmental puzzles with friends. Playing alone, discovering the different flavors of each new temple and figuring out the solution to a brain-busting puzzle all by myself is satisfying; replaying with others doubled that satisfaction because developer Crystal Dynamics renews the challenge with creative new twists on previously conquered obstacles that require teamwork to overcome.

Huge fun with friends and enjoyable on your own, Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris is a strong follow-up to Guardian of Light. It might retread a lot of old ground from its predecessor, but it also offers enough twists and interesting puzzles to keep you playing for a good few hours, making it well worth excavating and dusting off.

If you liked Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light, then you will like Temple of Osiris. A few mechanical issues make the experience less than ideal, but this cheap little game can be a lot of action-packed fun.
