There is a certain tradition that exists with many gaming franchises, often this is terms of a struggle to change or a reliance on something that the franchise has done for so long. In this case I think of the Lego games, since 2005 many of the Lego games created by developer TT games have relied on the use of popular franchises such as Batman, Star Wars and even Harry Potter to drive sales and keep popularity for the franchise. Even if this is the case everything must change eventually and be open to the introduction of new ideas as...

It's not the game that will make the world sit up and take notice of Wii U, but Lego City Undercover is one hell of an easy game to root for.

“In skipping a franchise tie-in, TT Fusion flourishes with an open world LEGO game that tells a smart, funny story without the crutch of familiar faces.”

LEGO City Undercover is a slap-happy LEGO GTA. This 2017 remaster of the 2014 Wii U exclusive now introduces the originally absent co-op play, while also jumping onto the Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Easily my favorite LEGO game in years.

Lego City Undercover is a fun and entertaining game. If you love anything that’s Lego and want to immerse yourself in an open world that comes alive and reacts to whatever you do, then this is a game worth playing. The amusement it provides is worthwhile and it’s one of those games that you would love going back to. Lego City Undercover is Lego’s answer to Grand Theft Auto and I can say that they definitely delivered. And the best part? You can play this with a friend!

LEGO City Undercover isn’t for me. If I were to rate it solely on my experience, I’d give it no higher than a 6.5. But watching kids play, and seeing how they were glued to the screen, through their eyes it looked like a 9. Taking all of that into account, I think it’s only fair I bump my thoughts on it up a little to a solid

LEGO City Undercover was already a great game when it released on Wii U four years ago and this new release takes that and tweaks it just a bit. The overall experience is a little smoother and the addition of co-op is a nice touch, and even though there’s nothing substantially new here, those that missed out before will want to check out LEGO City Undercover this time around.

Back in 2013, Lego City Undercover was one of the Wii U’s best third-party exclusive games (okay, okay, it was one of the only third-party exclusive games). That was then, this is now, and Lego City Undercover is back and now available on the Switch, Xbox One, PC, and PS4. I wish I could tell you that TT Games added a bunch of new content but unfortunately it appears that nothing has changed aside from some minor aesthetic changes, slightly improved graphics and slightly improved load times. For those of you who’ve played the Wii U version, you’ll be getting...

A bit more love and attention would have seen the PS4 version of Lego City Undercover receive the commendation it deserves, but its unresolved shady past has caught up with it.

Successfully making the leap from the Wii U four years since its original release, LEGO City Undercover is still a fantastically fun and exciting open-world adventure.

I feel like Traveller’s Tales is going to be hard-pushed to outdo themselves on another LEGO game that feels as enjoyable to play as LEGO City Undercover. It’s a brilliant addition to the franchise, and I’m so glad that other console owners finally get to enjoy it outside of the 2013 Wii U version. If you enjoy well-voiced characters, some silly jokes and inoffensive yet brilliantly addictive gameplay, look no further. If you’ve ever played a LEGO game and even slightly enjoyed it, you will love LEGO City Undercover.

If you’ve already played the original LEGO City Undercover on Wii U, then there is little reason to pick up this re-release. However, if you were one of the many who missed it the first time around then LEGO City Undercover remains a hilarious riff on police procedurals, built upon a GTA-for-juniors open world blueprint, and stuffed with enjoyable side missions and collectibles to hunt down. The addition of split-screen play, cursory in its execution as it may be, only makes the game more appealing to players who would prefer to experience LEGO City Undercover with a friend riding shotgun....
Read Full ReviewLEGO City: Undercover is a wonderful addition the Wii U's sorely lacking library, and one that acts as a promising sign that future platform-exclusive software will deliver on the promises that Nintendo has made. While the lack of co-op, lackluster combat, and stagnant load times take away from the game, the wonderful humor, immense open-world, and sheer list of collectibles make this one of the best LEGO titles to-date. Anyone with a Wii U won't want to miss out on this block-tastic adventure.

For all its faults, charming is absolutely the word best describing LEGO City Undercover. While more could have been done to exploit the sandbox scenario, and while it sticks a bit too nervously to formula than it could have, Undercover is nonetheless a frequently pleasurable, occasionally hilarious little romp in a new LEGO world full of potential. Should TT Games get another chance to revisit this idea, I hope for — and expect — a lot more of an expansion on the concept, and a lot more focus on the fresh elements that provide Undercover‘s highest points. As for this...
