LEGO Party! is a fun title that has a lot of differences from other titles you have played. Some weird comments and bugs pop up, but it’s still fun to play.
LEGO Party is a safe mimicry of the genre popularized by Mario Party, but that’s the exact type of game that non-Nintendo platforms have never seen and desperately needed. While it can’t match the charm of the inspiration it brazenly wears on sleeves, it’s still a respectable party game that actually manages to pin down most of the things that make Mario Party a hit in the first place, all while charging less to boot!
LEGO Party is a rather enjoyable party game that takes the best parts of Mario Party and mixes them with some neat new additions. The way that luck can completely flip a game isn’t my favorite thing, but if you don’t mind the silliness that comes with this sort of game, there’s plenty to do in this one.
The Lego franchise has tried its tiny-clawed plastic hand at nearly every video game genre going. We’ve had platformers, shoot ‘em ups, racers, co-op adventures, puzzlers, even a Super Smash Bros clone. But, rather oddly, never a party game. That’s where Lego Party comes in, offering fun, frolics and laughter for all the family across its impressive range of silly yet satisfying mini games.
Undoubtedly one of the best family party games we've ever played, LEGO Party! is beautifully presented and an absolute riot to play. With game boards made entirely out of LEGO bricks and a suite of brilliant minigames, it gives Mario Party a good run for its money.
Like any good human being with a pulse, I love Nintendo games, but I always worry about few of their franchises having actual competitors that are good enough to make them put in an effort on their subsequent releases. The issue with most Nintendo games is that, when there’s no one to compete with, you don’t have to try, rendering some franchises stale in the process. One such case is Mario Party. Whilst the games are still somewhat good, there’s no denying that they feel quite too simi...
Be it taking on a movie franchise anthology, an open-world racer or a superhero adventure, LEGO certainly isn’t shy of taking on different genres. Now, LEGO is coming for Mario Party‘s crown. This is the XboxEra Review for LEGO Party!
For Lego’s first party game, Lego Party is a strong entry, with lots of unlockable minifigures, the ability to create your own, and fun, distinct boards to play on.
Creative, colourful, and a consistent crack up, Lego Party is purpose-built to turn any boring old night into a block party filled with belly laughs.
We’ve had a number of Mario Kart clones over the past few years, and even a Smash Bros clone here or there, but Mario Party clones have been few and far between, until now. Meet LEGO Party, a bundle of mini-games looking to compete, if not best, Nintendo’s juggernaut.
LEGO Party! is an amazingly fun party game for fans of all ages. The game is full of LEGO charm, from the set pieces to the minifigs to the in-game commentary from the game show hosts. There are some concerns regarding performance in minigames and a lack of LEGO properties being represented, but overall, this is a must-have for anyone looking to add to their LEGO collection!
Even so, LEGO Party is a polished, fun party game that delivers exactly what its title promises. It's basically Mario Party with LEGOs, but there is nothing wrong with that. Party game fans will get a lot out of LEGO Party, and while it may not have enough to justify playing it for hours on end in single sessions, it is something that will be easy to go back to on game nights.
If you're in the market for a multiplayer mini-game-filled funfest then you can't do much better than LEGO Party! as it's one happening shindig.
LEGO Party is a great party game for all ages. The customization, the minigames, and the way the boards are laid out all make it feel like a match made in heaven.
LEGO Party! stands tall as one of the best games ever in the competitive board game-style genre. Sure, it's derivative of Mario Party, but it also improves on many games in that series in a multitude of ways. Almost all of the 60 mini-games here are truly great, the game boards are creative, and the player customization options feel endless. I do wish it had a couple additional modes and maybe another game board or two, but that's really just because I want more of this awesome title. Regardless, LEGO Party! is such a blast, and a game I sincerely hope catches on so we can keep getting more content and sequels.
Mine is a Mario Party household. Over the years my wife and child have enjoyed many nights of minigame-fueled board game chaos. Things always got heated, especially as we taught our young one to handle things not going his way. The grown-ups needed a refresher on those lessons as well, let’s be honest. Even so, we’ve always come back to that series and had a blast. So it made sense that, when LEGO Party! came across my desk, we made a weekend of it. I’ve come away from the experience with the dreaded Mixed Feelings, a combination of being impressed with the overall presentation while not loving the nuts-and-bolts gameplay nearly as much as Nintendo’s competition.
