“Persona 4 Golden is what Persona 4 should have been all along.”
It was such a joy to just spend time in Inaba, that it's got me dreaming of Atlas one day putting out a Persona in which you just simply exist. In my good buddy Yosuke Hanamura’s words: "Days like today... days when I did nothing. They’re all important days."
Every once in a while a game comes along and catches you completely by surprise. Picture this: it’s 2016, and I’ve just been given a PlayStation Vita for Christmas, as well as an obscure JRPG I’ve never heard of. That game was Persona 4 Golden and it consumed my entire life for the next few months. Fast forward to the present day, and Persona 4 Golden is now playable on modern consoles. Am I about to lose another 100-odd hours of my life? You bet your bottom, golden dollar I am.
Persona 4 Golden is a superb JRPG that stands the test of time with a brilliant cast of characters, fulfilling main story, and addicting gameplay. This excellent JRPG is finally portable again on Nintendo Switch, providing one of the best ways to play Persona 4 Golden with its new quality of life improvements and features. This is a must-buy for JRPG veterans and newcomers alike.
Persona 4 Golden has absolutely withstood the test of time, delivering a fantastic story with a truly likeable cast of characters. Could more have been done with the visuals? Perhaps, but it’s still a brilliant game nonetheless. A true classic, now available on your console of choice. Sweet.
Persona 4 Golden brings the series‘ first smash hit to modern consoles and it’s a treat. If you enjoyed Persona 5, you’ll probably love this title. It’s easily the closest to its more popular successor in look, feel, and mechanics. Persona 4 Golden is in many ways a gentler story than Persona 5, but it could also be called a more grounded one. Whatever the case, Persona 4 changed the course of the Shin Megami Tensei franchise, and I can see why.
It’s also worth mentioning that you can now choose between English and Japanese voice acting, which as far as I’m aware, wasn’t available on the original Vita release. The game also hits a smooth 60 frames per second (and beyond!) and visuals are significantly sharper than they were on handheld. This is the definitive way to play one of ATLUS’ best games and Play Anywhere ensured smooth save transitions between my Xbox and PC. For twenty whole dollars this game is simply a fantastic deal, and one I can easily recommend to any Xbox player, JRPG fan or not. It’s launching on Game Pass too, so there’s no excuse.
Persona 4 Golden was one of the PS Vita's defining games. An expanded version of the PS2's Persona 4, which first released in 2008, Golden is widely regarded as one of the best JRPGs out there — and it's still easy to see why.
Over ten years later, Persona 4 Golden remains a thoroughly enjoyable and engrossing RPG that, for the most part, has stood the test of time. Although its visuals might be a bit dated, the gameplay and story presented here do more than enough to justify the purchase, while all the tweaks and additions that came with this ‘Golden’ edition round out most of the rougher edges from the initial PS2 release. If you're looking to give the Persona series a shot, Persona 5 Royal is a good place to start, but P4G is an excellent entry in the series and one that we would recommend you pick up when you can.
By building a fantastic story filled with a deep cast of characters Persona 4 Golden manages to truly invite you into its world. While at times peaks and troughs in gameplay can be jarring the complete package is one any JRPG fan should turn their hand to.
This JRPG favourite has aged like a fine malt.
Persona 4 is still one of the best JRPGs of all time, and this port only further proves that while clearing up your vision of Inaba and adding a new control scheme with which to Face Yourself. With this PC version bringing along the enhancements and new features of Golden, there’s never been a better time to Reach out to the Truth for newcomers or for veterans to Make History.
Persona 4 Golden lives up to its name as a must have game for all PS Vita owners
The enhanced PS2 JRPG makes its debut on the Vita and boy is it good!

The PlayStation Vita is lucky to have Persona 4 Golden. While the game doesn’t do much of note besides bringing the 2008 title to the HD era, it doesn’t need to. The story hooks you, dungeon crawling makes for a great time, and exploring your relationships while building a better army is the kind of tinkering you can get lose hours to. Persona 4 Golden is perfectly at home on the handheld and should dominate your free time.
There's more truth to be had in Atlus's revamp of a PlayStation 2 classic. Fans and newcomers alike will definitely want to visit Inaba this winter.
This marvelous port of a JRPG classic feels more like a director's cut; the definitive version of a thrilling journey equal parts charming and challenging
