As a sim golf acolyte, I picked a great time to get into the genre. PGA Tour 2K25 is slick, seamless, and pretty compelling. You’ve got a bunch of ways to play, and an endless amount of mechanical customization to mess with. If you want a particular kind of match, at a very specific difficulty setting, you can make that happen. I was mashing buttons through the post-game interviews, but the actual games are excellent. I’m thrilled they have so many control schemes to choose from, especially since stick controls are so egregious. The courses look awesome, your swings feel...

PGA Tour 2K21 scratches the itch for the hardcore golf fans out there, but casual players are going to find a game that is lacking deeper options even though the game itself is beautiful. It's a good entry that hopefully is built upon in the future.

Technically impeccable and fantastic to behold, 2K’s first PGA Tour game is already the best golf sim currently available.

It’s hard to be too mad about it though, given that PGA Tour 2K21 is the best golf game in years. In fact, it’s the best golf game of this generation. It looks absolutely gorgeous, caters for all skill levels, and is simply a joy to play. There are areas which could be improved, and I’m sure they will be in subsequent releases, but for now, let’s just relish the fact that the PGA Tour licence has been put to good use. A deeper career and the ability to play as pros can be delivered at a later date.

PGA Tour 2K21 is a sure shot, hitting the green with the precision and finesse of a pro. Whether you are swinging away with heavy lumber from the tee to win a championship or are chipping out of a bunker to save par, the stroke play is beautifully crafted. It is also fully malleable, allowing players to achieve a realistic game where they are battling hooks and slices, or an arcade experience where every approach is within a whisper of the pin.

It’s hard to pin down what exactly makes this game far short of blowing me away, other than it doesn’t offer a whole lot that hasn’t been seen before. 2K Sports does everything it needed to do with PGA Tour 2K21 but it doesn’t really go above and beyond.

PGA Tour 2K21 offers the best stroke play in years, with deep and rich shot and swing craft. Only a lean career mode proves its handicap.

Playing on real-life courses in PGA TOUR 2K21, scoring a perfect hole in one, and hearing the crowd erupt is special. Career mode is a blast, and beating Justin Thomas (cover athlete and number one player in the world) to the FedEx Cup is great. The difficulty level of the game can be brutal, with the timing of the swing being a legitimate pain. But the options that are available allow players to progress at their own speed, which is nice. Thanks to this, a deep multiplayer experience, and endless course options from the Course Designer, PGA TOUR 2K21 is...

As the first game in this newly rebranded series, PGA Tour 2K21 feels a little bare bones in some areas while also managing to build a solid foundation for the future now that they have the PGA license behind them.

HB Studios created, in my opinion, some of the best golf video games in recent memory. Their take on the virtual fairway with The Golf Club series showed an understanding and love for the sport that took it beyond just a tie-in. With no specific “name” attached to the title (à la Tiger Woods PGA Tour), they carved out a niche for themselves as a talented team that just needed a bit more time and a bit more money to make something truly special. Now, they’ve partnered with 2K Sports on ...

HB Studios has had a pretty successful rise to the top of the golf genre: a genre that hasn’t seen much love once Tiger went through his scandal, and EA dropped him from their PGA Tour games back in 2013. There have been some arcade golf games like Golf Story, a pretty good title, but that was more of an RPG than a simulation. Hell, EA even tried to bring back PGA Tour with Rory McIlroy in 2015, but wasn’t met with much love.

Whatever angle you're coming from, it's fair to say that PGA Tour 2K21 will likely satisfy your golf game needs. If you're new to this sort of game, you'll be gently introduced by well-crafted tutorial mechanics and charmed by the quiet chill of it all. If you're a lapsed EA Tiger Woods player, you'll likely be impressed by the systems and mechanics HB Studios has built up over the last four games to differentiate their take. And if you're a Golf Club veteran, this is another solid entry, iteratively improving on those that came before. It ticks all the boxes...

PGA Tour 2K21 is the most flexible and enjoyable golf game since EA’s Tiger Woods series was at its peak. While its career mode could have done with some spit and polish to its presentation and featured more meaningful rewards, it nonetheless serves as a solid 20-hour straightaway to what could prove to be the most thriving part of PGA Tour 2K21’s dance floor in the long term; the online societies. As far as establishing a new sports franchise goes (on the shoulders of the three Golf Club games that came before) this might not be the strongest shot off...
