The Walking Dead: Season Two - Episode 2: A House Divided Reviews
Professional reviews from gaming critics
“The second episode of the Walking Dead’s second season is one of the finest episodes yet – and that’s saying something.”
'A House Divided' leverages streamlined gameplay to yield serious character and plot development. Alongside more technical polish than The Walking Dead has ever seen, this is Telltale's best effort yet.
After a three month break designed to let our minds digest the events of the first episode of Telltale’s second season of The Walking Dead, it’s time to step into the small shoes of Clementine once again. As is customary for the series, we last left the pint-sized heroine after making a difficult decision between two characters, and this latest instalment begins with the aftermath of that choice, as she heads back to the merry band of survivors that she currently calls family.
Telltale's The Walking Dead: Season 2, Episode 2 further proves it isn't zombies we should be fearing the most...
I think that is perhaps the testament to what Telltale Games does best with its stories – when the team can put an emotional punch in there that simply resonates for hours or even days at a time. This was an excellent episode that did precisely that for me.

It’s amazing that Telltale can maintain the same tension that a lot of us have grown to love. With A House Divided Telltale has set the pace for the entire season and have proven that adventure games don’t need high pace action to be incredible. A House Divided builds on the strengths of The Walking Dead games series, and the only downside is waiting for the next episode.
WARNING: This review contains a few spoilers from episode 1 as well as this episode. You’ve been warned.
The first episode of The Walking Dead: Season 2 was good but was ultimately disappointing, especially compared to The Wolf Among Us, so Telltale really needed to knock the second episode out of the park. Fortunately, a Home Run it is. The story kicks into high gear with some tense and amazing scenes, the choices become tougher and more oblique and the consequences hit hard. I’ll talk about Michael Madsen’s excellent new character in the next episode review because I don’t want to spoil ...
Episode 1 pushed to establish its own tone and cast for The Walking Dead Season 2 — perhaps too quickly for its own good. "A House Divided" feels much more like it belongs in the greater story Telltale began with The Walking Dead Season 1. From reminding me how much I loved last season to investing me in what happens as this season progresses, "A House Divided" succeeds on every level.
