How do you define a game? How do you define entertainment? Can they be defined? In recent years, the lines between games and other media forms have become increasingly blurry – Until Dawn obliterates the line entirely. It’s a master class in combining art forms – a truly interactive thriller experience that’s sure to surprise you with each play through. I’m grinning ear to ear while I write this.

Even though nearly a decade has passed since Until Dawn first spooked and tore its way onto PlayStation consoles, its keenly judged take on the teen slasher trope together with convincing voice actor performances and non-linear narrative still remain appealing - and arguably sit at the apex of anything developer Supermassive Games has created. Of course, if you were indifferent to Until Dawn when ...

As cheesy horror goes, you've never had it this pretty or entertaining but when it comes to a one off experience, Until Dawn is expensive interactive terror.

And that in itself is a unique concept and should make Until Dawn appealing to a lot of horror fans. Make no mistake, this is more of an interactive movie than a “game,” but that doesn’t mean it’s not worth experiencing. If the concept sounds appealing, then give Until Dawn a try. It may surprise you.

Until Dawn is a flawed, but fun experience. Though an unfocused story means it falls short of greatness, it’s an otherwise entertaining homage to the curious traditions of horror movies which pays off your in-game decisions with occasionally shocking consequences.

Until Dawn knows exactly what it is, and doesn’t pretend to be anything more. In that process it allows for some predictable plotlines, hammy acting, and lack of meaningful choices, but I’m glad that it exists, and every horror fan owes it to themselves to play it at some point — especially at a price cut.

Ballistic Moon’s remake of Until Dawn is proving one of our most difficult review assignments of the year. Here’s the rub: Supermassive Games’ cult interactive movie is still very much one of the best examples of the genre you can find on any console, and we highly recommend you play it. However, the PS4 version is just nine-years-old, and while this new-gen re-release does demonstrate some seismi...

Weird, gory and surprisingly moving - Sony's long-delayed slasher tribute is a flawed but memorable step forwards for “interactive movies”.
