Mario & Luigi: Brothership tells a charming and positive story with incredibly poor pacing and some impressive combat and exploration mechanics that have quite a bit of depth.
Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake is not just a remake - but a triumphant tribute to the franchise and its fans. Seeing this game rebuilt from the ground up is an absolute joy to behold, making it one of the strongest RPGs to hit modern platforms in years. Not bad...
The Bridge Curse 2: The Extrication tells a satisfyingly spooky tale with an Eastern spin filled with satisfying puzzles and some wonderfully handled atmospheric encounters with the supernatural.
Slitterhead delivers an intriguing horror story and fast action, but its exploration sections feel watered down, lacking in player agency.
Life is Strange: Double Exposure brings Max back with a mystery full of twists and new superpowers that add a new layer to investigation but lacks the emotional punch the franchise is known for.
Sonic X Shadow Generations is a welcome remake that adds just enough to be worth a re-visit. This is the Sonic we have wanted, and Sega would do well to keep this mascot ticking to this beat.
Clock Tower: Rewind features some QoL features but is mostly the same game it was in 1995. That is far from a bad thing however thanks to how atmospheric and tense it is throughout multiple runs.
Reynatis
REYNATIS feels like a game that is full of good ideas but none of them manage to pan out in a satisfying enough way even if it does offer a unique but stiff approach to combat.
The Smurfs: Dreams is a functioning platformer, but never quite taps into enough of that magic to bring us an interesting experience to the namesake. They may be pretty, but these lands feel a bit vacant of charm and personality.
Metaphor: ReFantazio feels like a truly mastercrafted RPG that creates a tense high stakes world that players will sink countless hours into to experience the wonderful tale this RPG spins.
Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero is an absolute blast that captures the over-the-top nature of the franchise’s fights perfectly while also offering a massive, albeit unbalanced, roster.
Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2 may be a bit basic at times but it offers a fantastic and colorfully chaotic experience of protecting the world from strange enemies with even stranger allies.
