Soulslike’s are no longer a new and thrilling concept that can achieve great things on genre alone. With industry giants like Elden Ring and successful riffs like Nioh, The Surge and Lies of P, lovers of all things punishing are spoilt for choice. Now, to stand out in a trending genre, you can no longer just make a Soulslike with a small twist and hope for the best. You need to offer something compelling, something unique, something that stops folks in their tracks, forcing them to raise an...

In the absence of other and more impressive Soulslikes, AI Limit could definitely step in and fill a void. It gets the basics right and even iterates in some enjoyable ways. Fans of sci-fi anime and those bored with gothic fantasy will appreciate AI Limit’s setting and theme. While the combat is nothing special, it’s still undeniably fun, if awfully familiar. In a genre absolutely brimming with better choices, it’s hard to recommend AI Limit, but players coming to it with reasonable expectations will have a good time.

This unapologetic soulslike punches well above its price tag in the areas that matter most, providing a deep and satisfying combat system that sustains through its 30 hour runtime. While AI Limit certainly supplies ample value, its limited budget shows in several less crucial areas.

After playing the promising demo of AI LIMIT, I was quite looking forward to the full game and it's a pretty good Soulslike so let's check it out.

The Soulslike genre is becoming crowded, but while games like Stellar Blade and Lords of the Fallen, strove to incorporate some original ideas, such as the latter having a parallel spirit world to explore, others take a much safer and traditional route. AI Limit is one of these.

AI Limit is a fine experience but is plagued by technical issues that actively work against you. The combat is solid, but some mechanics are so overpowered that they eclipse everything in your arsenal.

AI Limit is a fun game when you're not tangling with the camera. The combat is slick and fast and the gear and skill systems work well enough, but it can't quite stand alongside the best in the genre.

It's rough around the edges, but there's plenty to like about AI Limit. While its combat may be lacking impact, unique features such as the Frame system and the sync meter keep things interesting. And though it is challenging, some players will undoubtedly like the fact that it's not as hard as most other Soulslikes out there, making it more welcoming to newcomers to the genre.

On a functional level, AI Limit fulfills what it sets out to do and does so with very few hiccups in most regards. Outside of that, it exists as a time capsule of the mechanics that the industry is explicitly moving away from. While imitation can be argued to be the strongest form of flattery, here it feels tacky and it dilutes what ambition the team had in their own right. What is here, is good enough. But there isn't much outside of that.

AI Limit is a soulslike without any soul, offering a few interesting but unimpactful new ideas and a whole lot of bugs across its entirely unremarkable adventure.

Being a Soulslike, post-apocalyptic RPG with an anime aesthetic, AI LIMIT hardly has a unique premise. Thankfully, that doesn't stop it from being a solid, if somewhat clunky, Soulslike RPG.

AI LIMIT is well-designed and has interesting lore and characters. However, the slow beginning and bland early levels take away from the experience.

Those going into AI Limit with plenty of experience with Soulslike games should find it to be one of those titles that feels fundamentally generic and yet still fresh enough to remain on their mind after they've quit playing for the day. For those who are new to the Soulslike genre or only play it casually, AI Limit leans more on the accessible side of things with its gameplay, while still ensuring that accessibility is balanced out fairly well with innovative mechanics and challenging combat. AI Limit's shining stars, however, are its visuals, worldbuilding, and atmosphere — all of which...

AI Limit is a blast to play, and is worth checking out for fans of the Soulslike genre, especially at the low cost of admission. It doesn't necessarily reinvent the wheel, but there's enough remix to the formula here to keep the game feeling fresh and exciting as you explore its excellent post-apocalyptic world. It's typically pretty easy compared to most of its contemporaries with a few contextually out-of-place difficulty spikes, which could ultimately hamstring its staying power overall. This inconsistency, combined with some minor performance issues, holds it back a bit, but it's still a rewarding journey worth taking...
