The online mode is acceptable for the first entry into the series, but probably not as in-depth as other EA Sports titles. Championships mimics the general premise of Seasons from the FIFA franchise. You’re able to battle your online friends and see how your win-loss ratio stacks up in Rivalries and Quick Match will find you a random fighter from across the world.
“EA Sports UFC has failed to create something as immediately entertaining as it is rewardingly complex.”
From its inception in the early 90s to calls for a ban on what Senator John McCain called ‘human cockfighting’, Ultimate Fighting Championship exploded in popularity in the mid-2000s, and its following shows no signs of diminishing. As such, there have been a number of video game tie-ins over the years, but it is with the latest entry that new license holder EA Sports aims to nail the wow factor that generates the sport’s mass appeal.
EA Sports UFC will undoubtedly appeal to fans of MMA, but a convoluted control scheme, poor tutorials, few modes of play, bad acting, and an offensive use of DLC make this a game for hardcore fans only.
EA Sports UFC is absolutely amazing to see in motion. It is a lot of fun to play, too, assuming you have some friends along for the ride. Now, if the new development team can flesh out the experience with the additional modes and content fans loved in the previous release under THQ, EA could have another blockbuster sports franchise on their hands.
A fresh start for MMA fighting games on consoles, EA Sports UFC is a solid second crack at the sport for EA that still has acres of room for improvement. It looks remarkable, but it's a pretty face with a big black eye. EA Sports UFC's lack of options and gameplay finesse mar the overall package, but we can't wait to see what EA Sports UFC has in store next year.

Ring rust.
The worries I had regarding passing the reins over to another developer and publisher are laid to rest here. It is far from a perfect game but the fighting, particularly striking, is the best it has ever been. EA Canada has done a good job of showing that the UFC series is in good hands by delivering an excellent game.
EA Sports UFC is what every fan wanted from the game but it still leaves room for improvement.
EA SPORTS UFC has what UFC fans want--detailed, accurate fighting--but it leaves out what gamers want: options. UFC features some of the best visuals around, but the overall limitations leave this title best-suited for die-hard fans.
I would recommend anyone with a little bit of interest in the sport and a lot of patience check out EA Sports UFC. There is a fun game in here somewhere — it’s just behind a lot of barriers.
There is still work to be done both in and out of the actual fights, but this is one game every UFC fan will enjoy; after all, nothing compares to knocking your best friend out cold to the elated screams of commentators Joe Rogan and Mike Goldberg - let alone adding your name to the UFC's Hall of Fame.
