Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe is a quintessential package for newcomers to the franchise. A fantastically realized set of Copy Abilities, swathes of worthwhile content, a great new epilogue, and gorgeously enhanced new visuals make for a timeless experience that's only hindered by a noticeable lack of difficulty.

It's another Kirby game, which means it's light, enjoyable fun with little to no padding. The Deluxe version includes an Epilogue worth playing, and graphical enhancements make it a charming game to look at.
When you return to a return, you risk drowning in sentiment to the detriment of the experience. Instead, Return to Dream Land Deluxe skillfully channels its sentiments to refresh Kirby’s legacy and add something new on top of it. It is perhaps the most Kirby game to ever Kirby, and there's nothing wrong with that.
Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe is a comprehensive update to a classic casual platformer.
Kirby has such a roller coaster dynamic across his various games. Sometimes he’s a ball of yarn, sometimes he’s a strong fighting machine, sometimes he spends most of his life on the back of a hamster because Kirby’s Dream Land 2 was a magnificent evolution of a franchise. Last year was the big anniversary celebration of Kirby, which brought both one of Kirby’s boldest steps forward ever and also the cutest waste of twenty dollars. The little pink puff can’t pick a lane and stick wi...
For most players though, it’s the main meat of Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe – the platforming adventure – that will draw them in. It might not be the most revolutionary game – after all, the original is 12 years old – but it’s a charming platformer that’s as joyous as it always has been. And with the addition of Merry Magoland, this is a sizeable package with essentially endless replayability.
Kirby brings back an old favorite to the Switch in Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe. With charming new visuals and new features alike, there has never been a better time for a second helping.
There’s also Magoland and a playable epilogue starring Magolor. Both provide players with new Magolor-themed content, with one being a Disney World-esque hub for minigames and fun little interactions and the other being a little playable extra campaign to show what Magolor is up to following the base game’s ending. They’re grand additions that do indeed add a good deal to the package, further making this the ideal way to play Return to Dream Land.
"Deluxe", indeed. Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe remasters and expands one of the tightest controlling and most power-packed platformers in the series into a polished package of Kirby content. While the main story gets off to a slow start, both plot and gameplay-wise, it builds into something quite special and is capped off with the fresh and fun new Magolor Epilogue chapter.
Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe not only got me as giddy as a youngster in a candy shop, but was a solid reminder that, with a bit of pure imagination and innovation, Nintendo could still expand upon the worlds of existing IP, especially its pink pudgy ones.
Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe is very much worth trying, especially for younger or less experienced players, who will find a high quality title with a lot to offer waiting for them.
Nonetheless, even when the trappings are more traditional, as they are in Return to Dreamland Deluxe, Kirby is Kirby.
Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe is a wonderful remaster with a good amount of love put into it. While it may not be as vast as last year's new Forgotten Land title, it has a lot to offer players, especially those who may not have touched it before. Those who have previously played Return to Dream Land might not have much to look forward here unless they're a hardcore fan, but those who like Kirby and have never tried this title will want to consider picking it up. It doesn't do anything crazy compared to the typical Kirby adventure, but it's so well put together with tons of optional activities that it's well worth going along with Kirby and his friends to see it through to the end.
Kirby Return to Dreamland Deluxe is a great port and a must for Kirby fans. It has enough new content to warrant a rebuy, and due to the unique recipe of Kirby games, it feels just as good as Kirby and The Forgotten Lands. If you’re looking for a cheerful platforming adventure, then this is a must for your Nintendo Switch collection.
A remastered version of the 2011 Wii title, Kirby’s Return to Dream Land offers some updated graphics and a few new features, but are these enough to justify returning to the game?
Kirby’s Return to Dreamland Deluxe is top-shelf 2D Kirby platforming. It’s visually as good as non-stylized Kirby gets, rife with every copy ability you can dream of, and as nice and fulfilling a platformer as any Nintendo game should ever be expected to be.
As a follow-up to the highly successful Forgotten Land, Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe may tread on old ground, but it does so with confidence and colour aplenty.
Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe is another in a string of Nintendo classics that have been ported to Switch while the pubilsher bides its time ahead of a new console.
Is there anything comfier than jumping into a Kirby game? Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe may be a remake of an older game, but it certainly looks as good as new, and since I never played the original Wii game, it’s the perfect addition to my Switch library. But if you already played the original, is it worth getting again? Are the upgraded graphics, multiplayer subgames, and the new story Magolor’s Epilogue worth shelling out for Deluxe? Let’s jump in and find out.

Although variety in Kirby games is always nice, our favourite pink puffball always feels best at home in 2D platforming, and in a way Kirby's Return To Dream Land Deluxe feels like a quintessential Kirby experience. Taking on the campaign with up to three friends, the game gets the balance of varied locations, fun set piece moments, and variety of copy abilities - with Kirby players able to take on the abilities of enemies - near-perfectly aligned. It's worth noting that the newly-added mecha Kirby copy ability is definitely one of those overpowered copy abilities, although it's always a blast when it turns up in a stage.
It's been a while since Kirby's Return to Dream Land released but it's back and better than ever thanks to a brand new Deluxe version.
The tough puff Kirby is back for a 1-4 player platforming adventure across Planet Popstar. Help Magolor rebuild his ship with newly added Mecha and Sand Copy Abilities!
Following a long run of gimmick-heavy titles, 2011's Kirby's Return to Dream Land signaled the franchise's return to the traditional platforming style. With four-player co-op, a massive suite of fun copy abilities, and cleverly designed stages, Kirby's Return to Dream Land stands out as one of the high-water marks for the franchise. Thanks to an HD visual upgrade and meaningful content additions, this new Switch version establishes itself as the definitive way to enjoy this standout adventure.
Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe is going to be a hard sell at full price for folks who already felt like they got everything they needed out of the original release: but if you remotely like Kirby and haven’t picked any series entries up in a while, it’s hard to go wrong with this one. HAL Laboratory has perfected the formula over the past three decades or so, cramming in tons of stuff to do and catering to a more hardcore aged-up Kirby audience: without forgetting the original ethos of the franchise. Hopefully with the Switch’s high install base, it’ll get the attention it deserves this time.
Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe is a reminder that Kirby is one of Nintendo's most consistent heroes, no matter what dimension he's in.
2022 saw Nintendo’s beloved puffball Kirby ascent to new heights. Kirby and the Forgotten Land was not only the series’ first full-on 3D platformer, it was probably the marshmallow’s best game ever and one of the top first-party Switch games, period. It’s also already the franchise’s best-selling entry to date. You want to follow up a success like that the right way, and Nintendo and Hal Laboratory have decided to look to the past with the Wii-era remaster Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe.
“Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe is an exceptionally well-handled rerelease, bringing new content that enhances the Wii classic.”
