Mega Man X is certainly an iconic game series in the action platforming genre to this day, which will extend – a degree – to the Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy Collection on review today. This collection includes four Mega Man Zero games, and two ZX games. These games were originally for the GBA and DS platforms, with more of a focus on exploration and progression.
From the Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy Collection, players can expect plenty of content at a fantastic price. A basic playthrough of each game will take players a handful of hours, reaching roughly 10 each for ZX and ZX Advent. This means that for the solid price of $29.99, players can experience the full and complete story of Zero at a reasonable price. In fact, the only question left in the air with this collection is when Mega Man Battle Network and Star Force will receive the same treatment.
Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy Collection is easily the best Legacy Collection to date while including the entire Zero and ZX series. While the Zero games may be a bit unfair due to the zoomed-in GBA view and unforgiving lives system, the new save-assist feature gives players the ability to play through these games at their own pace without feeling like they’re given too much power. Z-Chaser is lastly a good bonus game, even if it is lacking in the level department.
The Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy Collection retains its difficulty and classic gameplay elements in what ends up being a great looking package that can still be accessible to newcomers.
Any one of these games is worth throwing 10 bucks at, much less all six. So long as you can deal with some antiquated visuals (even with the new look) and a bit of exploration-based frustration with the ZX games in particular, you’ll have plenty of rainy days squared away with the Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy Collection.
Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy Collection is an excellent little package that is sure to please fans both old and new.
The Mega Man franchise has had so many spinoffs over the past few decades that it’s hard to remember all of them sometimes. Besides the main series, we also have the edgier X series, the 3D adventure Legends series, and the Battle Network games that tried to capitalize on the Pokémon craze. Hell, they even made a Mega Man Soccer game back in the day. One of the best Mega Man side franchises ever created is the Zero series, which focuses on the sword-wielding lone wolf stereotype, Zero. Tho...
Capcom's latest Mega Man collection is its very best. Our review of Mega Man Zero ZX Legacy Collection is here!
All around, Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy Collection is a great package, and a celebration of this franchise's heyday - now to hope for a brand new Mega Man Zero game, hopefully...
With an engaging story, tight controls, and flashy action, the Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy Collection makes you feel like a real hero, despite some stumbles along the way.
The Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy Collection is hands-down the best way to play these games. It has proven itself worthy of standing alongside the previous classic and X collections on any fan's shelf. Capcom has shown that they know how to create great collections for these games. They get what makes a good collection. The included art, ease-of-play modifiers, and brand new modes are all amazing additions that only enhance what was already great. Here's hoping we don't have to wait too long before Capcom gives us the next collection.
By all means, add Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy Collection to your library with haste if you want yet more hardcore platforming action. Even faster if the mere mention of Mega Man has your nostalgia senses tingling. Unless you’re a fan though, be cautious and know what you’re getting yourself into. There’s fun to be had here, sure, but it’s found in pockets among huge swathes of frustration.
Just like with the previous Mega Man Legacy Collections, Capcom brings together a group of standout games in their most accessible and affordable form to date with the Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy Collection.
Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy Collection offers up six great games and enough challenges and extra content to keep you coming back for me. The inclusion of a casual mode and save assist feature helps new players experience the games that they may not have had a chance to do before.
Like a lot of video game fans, I grew up playing Mega Man games. Their action-heavy, tough-as-nails platforming design was downright thrilling during the 8- and 16-bit eras, but as time wore on, the formula eventually became stale. By the time Mega Man Zero debuted in 2002, most of the biggest games on the console market had left two-dimensional platforming behind. As such, many series followers (myself included) completely missed the Zero line of games. And that’s a shame, not only because they’re excellent Mega Man games, but also because they brought a lot of fun new ideas to the table.
Mega Man has seen many awesome games over the years and these portable titles from Inti Creates are prime examples of 2D action.
The Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy collection is great thanks to the quality of its six included games. Capcom's addition of new modes to help people play these classics at whatever difficulty they feel comfortable with is a great way for anyone to enjoy the wild sci-fi stories of these Mega Man X spin-offs without making it a walk in the park. The bonus features are great, but aren't anything more than what you'd expect to find in a retro gaming collection, although the Z-Chaser adds a new level of competitiveness to the games. Playing handheld games on a 55" screen is fun enough on its own, but these games in particular look and play amazingly well.
