Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 is the best title in the franchise and provides a non-intimidating onboard ramp to the simulator franchise, but game crashes and performance issues can be frustrating.

Free from graphics cards, drivers, and other PC trappings, Microsoft Flight Simulator is the most accessible flight simulator ever made. With the most minor of concessions, it also manages to be the best looking game the Xbox Series X has on offer to date. With the right control surface, you too can slip the surly bonds of Earth, and when it looks this good and plays this well, I highly recommend it.

Microsoft Flight Simulator is nothing short of revolutionary, featuring an almost impossibly large, authentic and living open world that's bound to take your breath away. Asobo and Xbox Game Studios have delivered a truly special entry in this historic franchise, and it's only going to get better in the years to come.

Microsoft Flight Simulator on Xbox Series X and S is the first current-gen game that feels like it would have been impossible last-gen. It not only looks like a current-gen exclusive – it’s the first game that plays like one all the time. There’s a touch of irony that its arrival on consoles is so late that its original PC departure occurred last-generation, but there’s no way the Xbox One could have delivered any version of Flight Simulator as we know it.

A beautiful experience. Even with the long load times and, overall, feeling that this game is catered to hardcore players, there's no getting around just how gorgeous and fun it truly is.

If you’ve ever wanted to fly a plane or are simply fascinated by air travel, Microsoft Flight Simulator is a must-have. But for those with Xbox Game Pass for PC, it’s also worth a download simply for the window to the outside world it delivers. Never been to Egypt and seen the pyramids? It’s not quite the same, but flying over them in Microsoft Flight Simulator will still let you appreciate their grandiosity. Upset that you haven’t been able to go on holiday to your favourite location abroad this year? You can at least visit it in digital form while...

It's hard to understate how incredible having the whole world available feels and the amount of possibility it opens up. I've been playing for over a week and there are entire continents I haven't looked at yet, and am still only beginning to settle down and focus on an overall gameplay direction. Is today a good day to investigate tropical storms, flying in the caverns of the clouds? Maybe try a new aircraft, get to grips with its real-world super-accurate cockpit layout? For that matter it might be worth spending more time in cockpit view rather than kicking the camera...

A visionary, landmark release that's built with the long haul in mind. It will take a while for PC hardware to catch up with the game's potential, but despite some early technical turbulence the experience remains dazzling.

It was probably a cold day in the winter of 1982 when Microsoft shared with the world its first Flight Simulator. It was a technical demonstration of what a modern CPU could do at the time, future facing it would also highlight where we could go.

Exploring the world doesn’t mean you need to leave home at all. Asobo Studio’s newest release Microsoft Flight Simulator refreshes the most well-known aviation project. Players can travel the world, with 37,000 airports and detailed environments to couple the intense features of each plane. The eleventh major entry into the series comes fourteen years after its last proper iteration, Flight Simulator X. The timing couldn’t be more right to traverse the globe from the safety of our homes...

Microsoft Flight Simulator is an absolutely amazing return to form for the series and puts the world at your fingertips. One could say that the sky is the limit, but this game's sky doesn't have any limits.

Developer Asobo Studio says Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 is a ten-year project with many additions to come. That makes sense, as it's a brilliant base package with so very much to love that I can still see myself returning to for years. For me, the casual, it's a perfect low-stakes, relaxing gaming experience. It's a technical achievement and an excellent training aid, but it's also a brilliant piece of escapism, transcending its purpose as a tool to become something far more widely enjoyable - and I can't recommend it enough.

There is not enough room to list everything else offered by Microsoft Flight Simulator, but everything I did get to see during my time with the game was impressive. At the end of the day, it is still a flight sim and will never have the mass appeal enjoyed by other genres, but I can wholeheartedly recommend that everyone get in on it. The game marks the official entry into the next generation of visual fidelity and scope. Even if you only have a passing interest in the subject matter, it is worth a look on Game Pass just to...

There’s an enormous amount of enjoyment to be had in just exploring, and that speaks to me in a way not a lot of games have over the years. Cruising at 30,000 feet with the hum of the engine, the rattle of turbulence and the world below me, available in a way it never has been is absolutely worth sending a postcard home about.

Back in my review of Skater XL, I pointed out the issue that it's a simulation game without the game aspect. It was something that had no objectives, no scoring system, no paths or guidance. Frankly, the game offered nothing. How does this link into Microsoft Flight Simulator? Well, one comment in response to my review had this to say: "Next up: Chris Wray reviews Flight Simulator and complains about the lack of story."

It's honestly hard to describe how amazing Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 feels as there's so much to unpack, but from what I've experienced so far, I can truly say that this will be a game I'll keep coming back to time and time again. From the impeccably detailed aircraft and the challenges you can participate in, to the unbelievably stunning world and gorgeous weather system, Asobo Studio has lovingly and meticulously crafted something special here that suits players of all levels and abilities. All you need is the love for adventure, the trill for escapism, and the desire to have...

Microsoft Flight Simulator is, by all means, the most complete out-of-the-box package of any flight sim ever. Its advancements have pushed the genre as a whole to an entirely new standard with the promise of ongoing support solidifying its rank as the defacto flight sim for the years to come. While it has its quirks, this really is "As real as it gets".

Microsoft Flight Simulator is legitimately incredible. It's difficult to fully describe how amazing it feels to jump into a plane and have the freedom to fly to and from literally any place in the entire world. The base game's 20 included aircraft feel like more than enough for even hardcore aviation enthusiasts, and the ability to adjust the assists to tailor the experience to whatever skill level you desire makes it suitable for anyone looking to fly the friendly skies from the comfort of their home. The real-world mapping data, however, takes Microsoft Flight Simulator from being just an impressive...
