Revenge of the Savage Planet is a must-play game. Excellent visuals, solid game-play, plenty of fun & interesting areas to explore, secrets to uncover, and a overall humorous tone make it a top-notch effort. The included split-screen co-op allowed my son and I to have an awesome adventure together, filled with puzzle-solving and laughs. The game has a few issues such as the second player on co-op split-screen not earning achievements. It’s also worth noting that the game did crash on us about 5-6 times over our 10+ hours playing. However, the overall experience was great. Revenge of the Savage...

Five and a bit years after the release of Journey to the Savage Planet, developer Raccoon Logic Studios has made it their mission to release a sequel that expands upon a quirky formula and offers new and returning pioneers the opportunity to survive a savage world.

2020 seems like a lifetime ago, and for the developers of Revenge of the Savage Planet, it probably feels like it’s been even longer. Putting all the real world tumult of the past half decade to one side, Raccoon Logic was known as Typhoon Studios at the time and just on the cusp of releasing their debut title, Journey to the Savage Planet, when Google came along and bought them up, setting them to work on Google’s Stadia streaming platform. While Journey to the Savage Planet still arrived on other consoles, the Stadia port came not long before Google decided...

There are good career decisions and bad ones, but it's safe to say that any job requiring company solvency a century after it starts can best be described as "terrrible" and only goes downhill from there. Still, it's too late now for a lone settler dispatched to a remote solar system to oversee the creation of a homestead for colonists who will never arrive, so the only options are to either accept living out the rest of their days alone or figure out a way back to civilization. With an upbeat floating robo-drone by their side and a pile of...

Revenge of the Savage Planet is coming to Xbox and is Day One in Game Pass. It’s a long-awaited sequel, that turned into a miracle production after the game’s developers were bought and then shut down by Google. I’m glad they fought back to life, crafting a fun, clever, and beautifully stupid action-platformer that should leave anyone delighted.

Revenge of the Savage Planet is a confident sequel that expands on the original game in all the right ways. Its five densely packed planets are a joy to uncover, more importantly, invite exploration in all the right ways. While the humour is a bit hit or miss and I will personally always miss the first-person, Metroid Prime-like gameplay, some strong level design and a satisfying loop of exploration makes Revenge of the Savage Planet a strong but quirky debut for Raccoon Logic.

A zany, knockabout co-op action adventure that's kaleidoscopically colourful but wears you out before you get to the good stuff.

In 2020, Journey to the Savage Planet offered enticing exploration and inventive combat as you scoured an unaccommodating alien planet for resources and catalogued its inhabitants. Five years later, Revenge of the Savage Planet delivers the same basic concept, but thanks to a new third-person perspective, multiple planets, and a more thoughtful world design, it offers players a more consistent and enjoyable experience.

After recently dipping my toes in the first game, I'm very happy that Revenge of the Savage Planet is one excellent sequel so let's take off.

A sequel that eclipses its forebear in just about every department, Revenge of the Savage Planet is an immensely enjoyable platforming adventure with a lovely vein of slapstick comedy and daft satire lampooning unchecked corporate avarice.

Revenge of the Savage Planet is a large, ambitious adventure with great visuals, varied gameplay, and split-screen co-op to boot that's a great sequel to an underrated sci-fi platformer. However, the crude humour and corporate satire can be grating and the whole game feels like a collection of shallow busywork – though the design of the final few hours is exemplary.

It’s time to return to the Savage Planet! It’s been five full years since we have gotten any new Savage Planet shenanigans, with the last being the Hot Garbage DLC. This time around though, it’s a lot less about just journeying around these planets, and more about righting wrongs… and as always, the employers are the problem. Landing on a distant planet with the goal of making it inhabitable, you find yourself immediately fired from your position and left to figure it out for yourself...

While going solo still brings plenty of laughs and surprises, playing in co-op takes the experience to another level. Sharing the madness with a friend makes the exploration feel less lonely and way more entertaining. After all, space is weird… but it’s a lot more fun when someone’s there to get slimed (or killed) with you. Everyone can join in on the fun, including crossplay and split-screen options on PlayStation 5, PC, and Xbox Series X|S.

I had a blast playing Revenge Of The Savage Planet. The varied planets are gorgeous, the goofy creatures are charming, and the absurdist Rick And Morty meets Tim And Eric humor lands more often than not. Exploring vibrant new worlds and cataloging all the flora and capturable fauna scratches an itch for any sci-fi fan that wishes they lived in a timeline where space exploration was possible. Unfortunately, while combat does bring some interesting things to the table with elemental synergies at play, the gunplay is pretty basic despite being a frequent and expected part of your expedition. It's serviceable...

The word that immediately came to mind when first jumping into Return of the Savage Planet is ‘joyful.’ It's an out-of-pocket word to pick for a goofy indie space exploration title, but immediately after booting it up, everything from the voice acting and setting to gameplay and humor made me smile. There’s an undercurrent of love found on every screen, with the small team behind the game weaving their passion and playfulness into each pixel. A bigger team doesn’t necessarily mean a better product, and sometimes, all players need is a little chaos, an electric whip, a few fart jokes...

To make it in today’s cutthroat world, sometimes it feels like you have to be a taker to survive. It’s a ruthless mentality that makes the rich richer, crooked politicians more powerful, and countries more bloodthirsty. They take, take, and take until there’s nothing left for the rest of us, hoarding money, eliminating jobs, and destroying homes in the name of self preservation. Perhaps that’s what makes your typical video game so appealing. In something like Red Dead Redemption 2, players get to live out a true power fantasy: one where a world is theirs to take. Animals exist to...

While its predecessor's floaty, unsatisfying combat remains, and its enemy variety is lacking, Revenge of the Savage Planet's freedom of movement and exploration make this short-but-sweet, eccentric Metroidvania well worth a go.

Revenge of the Savage Planet is a self-assured sequel that successfully builds on what was started in the original game, making smart adjustments to structure and game feel while honing in on the satire. Not all of it is a success, but it's a great little romp that doesn't ask for too much of your time or brainpower to make its point.

Colourful and over-the-top, Revenge of the Savage Planet captures much of the same space-faring japes that made us love Journey to the Savage Planet. Its humour doesn't hit quite in the same way, though, and a few annoyances with combat left us a little frustrated.
