Yoshi's Crafted World is a fantastic reminder of what makes Nintendo games great. At a time when other publishers are adding more and more into their games, Nintendo has shown that creative levels and an incredibly cute art style is all you need for a good time.

Yoshi's Crafted World is one of Yoshi's stronger adventures. There are still a couple of missteps that keep it from being a top-tier Switch exclusive, but it's still pretty great and works as both a casual gaming experience and a more hardcore one as well. From start to finish, Yoshi's Crafted World is a solid platformer, and it's a worthy addition to anyone's Switch collection.

Yoshi's Crafted World has a style that erupts off the screen, but it leans too far into simplistic gameplay. That's great for kids, but it's not the all-ages fun that Nintendo is known for.

Combining its playful (yet awful) music, cute art direction, and easy gameplay, Yoshi's Crafted World is a relaxing experience that was quite refreshing. It was nice to just pick up the controller and feel like a winner. Sometimes you need that palette cleanser of a video game to come along and Yoshi’s Crafted World was just that for me.

These little touches go a long to make sure players know that Yoshi's Crafted World isn't a game that's going to keep anyone from playing it. From top to bottom, it is a lovely, enjoyable little platformer that certainly stands tall next to its more difficult counterparts. Looking for a palette cleanser or a game to play in short bursts on the go? You got it. Want to sink eight hours into colorful worlds and cardboard cut outs? It's all here.

Overall, Yoshi’s Crafted World is hours of fun for you and your whole family. Being able to step into a world with Yoshi as your main character will bring glee to any fans heart. He acts just as you remember from Super Mario World with all new tricks up his sleeve. For $59.99 USD you can own a copy of Yoshi’s Crafted World and you will not regret it.

The toughest obstacle any Switch platformer or collectathon has to face is being on the same platform as Super Mario Odyssey. Simply being good isn’t enough when facing off with one of the best in the genre. Through a unique level flip mechanic, a plethora of 2D puzzles and collectibles, and the irresistible charm of the main character Yoshi’s Crafted World manages to be a AAA 2D platformer worth playing in a time when the indie scene has dominated the genre. It’s also yet another reas...

Yoshi’s Crafted World is a refreshing, modern 2D platformer from Nintendo that, for once, truly feels new. From its gorgeous aesthetic to its myriad creative level motifs and gameplay ideas, Crafted World embodies the spirit of fun. While the game’s soundtrack is decidedly lackluster and its co-op feels underbaked, this is undeniably the most ambitious and fun 2D platformer from Nintendo in a long, long time.

Yoshi’s Crafted World brings together everything that makes the series so amazing to begin with, and expands on it exponentially with new mechanics and design decisions. It’s not perfect, but it’s a magical adventure in creativity from beginning to end and a textbook example of Nintendo’s dedication to pure fun.

From his laid-back nature to his optimistic look at the world, Yoshi is an easy character to love. He simply wants to enjoy the easy life with his friends, but should he need to comes to action and helps trouble from breaking out. In terms of gameplay itself, Crafted World is a great step-up from Woolly World. It feels closer to the original Yoshi's Island, with some brand new quirks added in along the way. Every single stage in Crafted World feels like an entirely different idea come to life, which makes it all feel like a brand new adventure...

Don't let the green dino's mid-tier status fool you. With fluid platforming, incredible attention to detail, and a huge variety of content, Yoshi's Crafted World is a must-have Switch game.

Yoshi may not have always been the go-to platforming icon for Nintendo, but his adventures have been becoming more commonplace in recent years, which I’m personally a big fan of considering he’s my favourite from Nintendo’s long list of memorable characters. While his world was previously made of wool in Yoshi’s Woolly World on the Wii U (and eventually the 3DS), Yoshi’s Crafted World’s aesthetic is focused on crafting, with levels looking like the result of an imaginative mind of...

Yoshi's unique brand of platforming is as solid as ever and comes with a brilliant visual twist, just don't expect it to bring too many new ideas to the crafting table.

Yoshi’s Crafted World doesn’t use its clever conceit as well as it should or weave a poignant story, but it’s still a solid and accessible Nintendo platformer.

With every new Yoshi release, it seems that critics and fans alike always seem to appreciate Yoshi with a sense of kid-like enthusiasm, favoring the cute art styles over the actual gameplay, since it was always super easy to beat the game.

Yoshi's Crafted World is simply lovely. The arts and crafts style is used in so many quirky little ways, the soundtrack lodges itself in your brain, and there's the same kind of laid back family friendly collectathon platforming that the series is now known for. Its one real new trick is its art style, sure, but that doesn't make it any less charming and wholesome.

Another highly competent Yoshi platformer that looks great and plays well, especially in co-op, but there’s a disappointing lack of innovation beyond the charming visuals.

Yoshi’s Crafted World is an engaging and charming platformer that is absolutely worth playing, but it misses a clear opportunity to be more than that by not taking full advantage of its most clever ideas. It has enough creative collectibles to make completionists want to hunt down every last one, but I’m disappointed Crafted World didn’t challenge me more in the way its last few levels proved it could have. Of course, I still thoroughly enjoyed every adorable hour I spent with it.

Google defines cardboard as "lacking depth and realism; artificial," and that definition certainly feels true-to-form here. Yoshi's Crafted World has all of the components of a classic platformer game, but the entire experience just feels shallow. There's no doubt that children will have fun with it, and longtime Nintendo fans will jump on the chance for another strong dose of nostalgia, but there's not much to satisfy modern-era gamers otherwise.

I have played too many platformers in my time. As a long-time Nintendo fan, there has never been a shortage of platformers, and no publisher really has such a mastery of what a platformer should be. But it's easy to tire of it all. We're at the point where Nintendo has made so many platformers that innovations in gameplay are pretty sparse, and instead, all they can innovate on is art style. Between the Kirby and Yoshi franchises, Nintendo has experimented with a variety of art styles that can be used in a 2D plane, and after both characters have...

Overall, Yoshi’s Crafted World is just another great title to be added to the Switch’s already-impressive library. It’s sure to appease fans looking for new games before Christmas when heavy hitters like the new Pokémon game and Animal Crossing come out, and it definitely shouldn’t be missed.

Yoshi has a long history of enjoyable platformers yet he's never quite reached the high notes of his SNES classic Yoshi's Island since it debuted. Does Yoshi's Crafted World have what it takes to make him a platforming superstar yet again?

Making art out of household objects requires creativity. If you hope to create something meaningful, you must see items like paper plates or cardboard boxes for more than what they appear on the surface. Using items like these, Yoshi's Crafted World masterfully creates a DIY aesthetic, presenting levels that feel like homemade dioramas. But much like the crafting process itself, looking beyond the obvious is important in this charming and fun platformer.
