Overcooked 2 on the Nintendo Switch 2 boils and skims off the scum that held its prior release back on older hardware, making it the definitive version of the game on a Nintendo platform.
Overcooked 2’s simplistic control scheme and basic premise means that anybody in your circle of friends can pick up and enjoy the fast-paced action the franchise has come to be known for. An improvement in every aspect, Overcooked 2’s addition of ever changing kitchen experiences as well as online multiplayer options cements itself as one of the best multiplayer (especially co-op) experiences you can buy right now. Delicious.
It doesn't try and reinvent the wheel, but Overcooked 2 is still a fantastic and barmy co-op romp that will entertain you and a group of mates for hours on end.
Is Overcooked 2! worth the purchase? I would say it is, for sure. The story and writing may be a bit over-the-top and punny for my liking, but there are certainly people out there that will have some fun with it. So whether you’re a cook for the ages or a master of the macaroni and cheese, Overcooked 2! is certainly worth picking up.
Ghost Town Games' culinary co-op concoction finally has a sequel. Does Overcooked 2 provide a fabulous fine-dining experience?
Overcooked 2 can definitely end friendships, but it might also help you to find your soulmate.
The Chefs are back in the kitchen again, slicing and dicing their way to success with Overcooked 2, the latest addition to your party game must-have list and the sequel to the extremely popular Overcooked. The original has been one of those co-ops that everyone must have on their console since 2016 and I’m here to tell you that Overcooked 2 is no different. If you’re stepping into Overcooked 2 looking for highly in-depth storyline then turn away now; this is not that kind of game… and h...
With Overcooked, Ghost Town Games landed upon a delicious recipe for co-operative cooking chaos that dished up a perfect helping of frantic fun. Although fairly short and straightforward in structure, the fiendishly designed levels meant players really did have to communicate effectively to succeed, and it's this that makes the game something special. Overcooked 2 largely sticks to the established formula, but a few new ingredients have been thrown into the mix to make it an even tastier co-op experience than its predecessor.
A co-op game is made great by being fun regardless of whether you and your partners are playing well or poorly, and Overcooked 2 absolutely perfects that. When everything goes smoothly, you all perform your roles perfectly, and nothing is set on fire. you feel like master chefs who are capable of anything. Yet, failing miserably, with everyone shouting at each other, can see you rolling around in fits of laughter. In co-op, Overcooked 2 is incredibly fun no matter how good you are at the game, but it’s not quite the same experience on your own.
If you enjoyed the original or skipped it purely because you needed online multiplayer support, Overcooked 2 should be a no-brainer. While the sequel runs the risk of being slightly too familiar and lacks any big surprises, it’s still a winning formula. Co-op gaming doesn’t get much better than this.
Overcooked 2 may be short on surprises, but that’s totally fine. It expands and refines exactly what we loved about the original, with plenty of fun and challenging stages to be played again and again, whether alone, with friends, or online. You couldn’t ask much more from this indie sequel: a filling follow-up that, while familiar, will have fans reaching for their aprons on launch day.
A tasty dish, Overcooked 2 adds extra spice to the first game's stupidly enjoyable co-op shenanigans, with online multiplayer finally in the mix and the ability to throw food around making for even more gastronomic madness. Food fiiiiight!

Overcooked 2 delivers another highly enjoyable yet chaotic co-op experience that will make or break relationships all over again.
The original Overcooked was one of the sweetest surprises of 2016. It filled the both-butts-on-the-same-couch multiplayer void left behind by sadly-diminished series like Bomberman and Mario Party, and it was co-op! You could bust the game out when your ultra-competitive family was over and nobody would need to be disowned by the end of the evening. Overcooked managed to tap into a niche audience starved for family-friendly co-op fun and became a solid sleeper hit.
Overcooked 2 serves up a great balance of hilarious chaos and strategy alongside meaningful improvements over its predecessor. The kitchens have more moving parts, the recipes are more varied, and the ability to throw ingredients fundamentally changes the arcade cooking formula. It’s still ideal when played on the couch with friends, but solo play is much improved, and online support adds versatility.
Couch co-op potatoes.
Moreover, despite being a largely frantic experience, the game also brings plenty of levity to the table. It’s forgiving enough that falling off a ledge is more slapstick than frustrating, for example. And its cartoony characters show that there’s room in the kitchen for everyone from grannies to racoons who use wheelchairs. And a couple of bugs (mostly crashes in loading screens) couldn’t undermine the overall feel-good sense of satisfying customers with a good meal. It’s easy, in our calorie-obsessed society, to forget that food is supposed to be something wholesome and nourishing. This game doesn’t make that mistake. Every aspect is celebratory, from the light-hearted chaos of its preparation to its ability to calm the zombie bread at the gates.
Since its release in 2016, there hasn’t been a party I’ve gone to where I haven’t suggested we dust off Overcooked. Now that Overcooked 2 is released, I can’t wait to play this version with all my friends. Players will recognise its familiar chefs and recipes, but are sure to enjoy all of the brand new features its sequel has to offer. Despite its few niggles, Overcooked 2 delivers everything that made the first game so great, but in a bigger, better and more appetising package.
A second helping of madcap meal-making in this entertaining but familiar sequel.
Got my grub on, but didn't pig out.
The Overcooked sequel feels familiar, yet different in all the best ways, including more than a few additions thrown in for good measure. Learn more in our Overcooked 2 PS4 review.
