It’s not bad, but it lacks imagination outside of the singular gimmick that you can change vehicles at any time, and ends up just being rather average.

The Crew 2 has tried to separate itself from the other open-world racing games that are currently on the market by expanding what the player can race in-game. Instead of only being able to race cars they decided to include speedboats and aerobatic/racing planes. This was a bold move on the part of Ivory Tower, but the fact remains that they didn’t stick the landing. What they created was an ambitious game with too much repetitive racing events that grow tiresome after only a few hours of ga...

A great driving game, a poor racing game. Has some technical issues involving controller support and their idea of multiplayer is somewhat unusual for this genre. A game I would happily spend more time with, but can’t recommend highly in its current state.

The Crew 2 is a racing game by Ubisoft that was released back in June 29th, 2018. Available on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, it features beautiful graphics and a ton of vehicle additions into the game compared to its predecessor, The Crew. However, The Crew 2 still retains the aesthetics of 2014’s The Crew as an open world, role-playing multiplayer racing game with multiple ways to race.

In a way The Crew 2 is a better game from the old, but in another way, it is also very much the same flawed racer. There is a lot of good here: open world, four racing types, huge customization, and tons of races. However, as a racing game, you'd do better with Mario Kart.

The Crew 2 is an ambitious undertaking that puts over-the-top arcade racing front and center. Though it makes large strides in the right direction over its predecessor, it suffers from odd game design choices, a lack of PvP, and a lackluster presentation that puts it squarely in the rearview mirror of its competition.

Sure, I can fly a plane as high as I can then drop from the sky as a car and continue my path to nothingness but the fun of that can only last so long. I wanted The Crew 2 to be the new pillar for arcade-style racers. Instead, we are presented with a missed opportunity.

An avalanche of racing goodness, hokey social media anchoring and an oddly sparse open world aren't enough to prevent The Crew 2 from improving on the original in every way and providing a multi-disciplined racer that is quite unlike any other on PS4.

One day I'm going to find a Ubisoft game that where I don't use the line "That Ubisoft Game" or point out the fact that [insert new Ubisoft game here] is just the same as every other, maybe just with a different mode of transport and a change in the palette. The Crew 2 is not that game and is just as bland.

Some strange design decisions create a racing sequel that’s arguably worse than the original, and only time will tell whether it recovers from its poor start.

The Crew 2 has been live since June 29th, and by now we have all had a decent amount of time to sink deeper into what this game is supposed to be. The first title in the series debuted to mixed reviews but eventually was shined up nicely to be quite a good game. Has Ubisoft learned from the past and made a stronger game or are we simply going to get more of the same? This is our review of The Crew 2.

The Crew 2 doesn’t just wear its ambitions on its sleeve. It emblazons them on the huge vinyl decals stretched over its extensive catalogue of supercars.

Adrenaline-pumping experiences is what The Crew 2 is all about, and while cars can provide them I’ve found that nothing beats piloting a plane through a dense forest. Though you might find that racing F1 cars on an actual track or throwing a monster truck around a halfpipe is more enjoyable. Basically, no matter what floats your boat, there’s a good chance that The Crew 2 has it. And that’s why I can’t help but love it. Warts and all.

The Crew 2 is not so much a sequel, rather a full refresh of the flawed-but-fun racing franchise that launched back in 2014. Gone is the lame action-movie storyline and aggressive tone, instead we are in the age of social media, with a focus on gaining followers through racing through colourful environments in cars, boats and planes, all the while becoming a bigger celebrity. While the tone doesn’t always resonate, it’s still a pretty fun racer that at least lays a good groundwork for thi...

A road trip that isn’t worth taking yet.

The Crew 2 is an ambitious game, yet an inconsistent one. It has many flaws that can't be ignored, but at the end of the day, it still manages to provide an undeniably enjoyable experience.

The Crew 2 is big, confident, and stuffed with arcade racing action – land, sea, and air. There’s undoubtedly something still charming about a racing game that lets us drive an F1 car across the Golden Gate bridge, fly a Spitfire through the Grand Canyon, and crash a monster truck through Central Park, but its uneven presentation, lack of events that use its best features, and absent PvP is a bummer.

I had hopes that The Crew 2 could build on the excellent open world map from the first game and offer a strong arcade racing competitor to the Forza Horizon franchise. Unfortunately, this didn’t happen. I feel that The Crew 2 fails at providing the heart of what what a racing game should offer, specifically a fun and rewarding driving experience. All the icing and fancy decoration in the world won’t make a crappy cake into a great cake. The Crew 2 can take a pack of exotic cars racing on a mountain road and produce results that are about...

Like some American lives, The Crew 2 experience basically amounts to being bored, frustrated, and wanting to get the hell out of Florida. This sequel gives you various ways of racing across the country, but it counters this freedom with limited gameplay and the feeling that this isn’t really the land of opportunity. Like the first game, developer Ivory Tower’s vision of America is not one that captures the imagination.

A successful sequel where it counts the most, only a few potholes slow The Crew 2 down in its drive to become the ultimate road trip.

Jack of all trades, master of none.  The Crew 2 is ultimately a more enjoyable experience than the first game, but one that also buckles under its own ambition.
