Bandai Namco isn't reinventing the wheel with Tekken 7, but it's been long enough that a solid entry in the franchise feels fresh. The new additions are small in scope but deliver in a big way, making this easily one of the best entries in the series.
Danger Zone's gameplay is rock solid, but its sparse presentation and short length make for a pretty forgettable experience.
Prey
Prey has all the atmosphere in the world but feels held down by its need to conform to what came before, its lack of enemy and weapon variety, and its refusal to let players choose their own path.
Learning from games both old and new, Immortal Redneck is a gameplay focused old school shooter at heart. Once you get up to speed, you'll have a tough time putting this excellent game down.
Styx: Shards of Darkness will provide stealth fans with a brief thrill, but wading through levels multiple times and dealing with poor attempts at variety will grate at even the most jaded of players by the time the campaign is through.
Sniper Elite 4
Sniper Elite 4 delivers a solid sniping experience and a lot of fun stealth moments. It has a forgettable story and a few technical quirks but succeeds in delivering all the skeletal nonsense that fans of the series have come to expect.
Double Dragon IV is a pure nostalgia trip, but it comes with enough interesting combat tweaks and bonus modes to be worth a few playthroughs for anyone with an appreciation of the NES originals.
Rise & Shine
Rise & Shine makes an amazing first impression, but the game hiding underneath lacks the depth and replayability of the many SNES action games that it attempts to imitate.
Shantae: Half-Genie Hero has an amazing presentation and precise platforming that will make gamers of all ages smile. If only the game stuck to its guns instead of devolving into a tedious collectathon that shatters the game's pacing.
Dead Rising 4
Dead Rising 4 lacks both the conviction to truly strike out on its own and the features and mechanics that will please franchise fans. As is, it's a game that is bland at its best and downright contemptuous at its worst.
Small Radios Big Televisions has trippy visuals and an interesting premise but fails to accomplish anything meaningful as an interactive experience. Add that to its ephemeral nature, and it's unfortunate just how forgettable this adventure can be.
Titanfall 2
Titanfall 2 effortlessly improves on the original release's deep multiplayer gameplay and adds in a memorable single player campaign that stands out from the pack. All that and a bundle of explosive ninja stars make this a must play FPS.
