Blue Prince takes the roguelike formula, throws in DIY architecture, and manages to combine them to form a pretty impressive tale of intrigue and a very fun puzzler. The simple mechanics make a complex whole with great puzzles and reason to play run after run!

As much as I love a good roguelike, it’s hard to deny the genre has become rather stale over the past few years, out of an overall lack of creative and sheer excessive amounts of titles released at a weekly basis . I didn’t expect much from Blue Prince, considering the small marketing campaign and, well, the fact it is a roguelike, but have to say I’ve been blown away by what’s on display here. It’s genuinely creative and engaging rogue experience that has so much more than what’s...

Blue Prince is an exquisitely designed game that stays in your brain between play sessions. It is the video game equivalent of a Rubix Cube where every move you make can shape your path to success. Do not let this gem pass you by.

A wonderful new take on the rougelike genre, adding puzzle elements is a genius idea. I lost hours and hours just building a layout, just too call it a day and go again. Progress however slow is just that shot of dopamine you need to keep you going for another day

Blue Prince is an exceptional puzzle game, and one that we didn’t necessarily ask for in its roguelike form. While the game provides you with a clear objective at the start, it quickly becomes apparent that there is a lot more than one final objective to keep you coming back to Blue Prince, even after finding the 46th room. Once in a while, a game comes along and changes the gaming landscape for the foreseeable future. With the arrival of Blue Prince, I expect to see more games coming in a similar mold over the next few years. While some...

Mysteries are one of my favorite elements in storytelling, and that goes double for video games. Whether you look at its roguelike, puzzle, or narrative design, Blue Prince expresses utter mastery over mysteries. The act of hunting for clues, unearthing secrets, and piecing leads together on the mental equivalent of a red yarn-covered corkboard is an unmatched thrill. It's a game that has consumed my every waking hour, and even after hitting credits, I'm eager to play a hundred more runs.

Blue Prince is an extraordinary achievement in puzzle games and its scale is incomprehensible and unlike anything I've seen in this genre before. This game is more than just a journey of an heir claiming his inheritance.

Despite frustrations with the random elements of gameplay, Blue Prince presents an experience that is unique, memorable, and as ever-shifting as the rooms of Mt. Holly. It throws you into a mystery full of mysteries and will ask you to take enough notes to create your own conspiracy board.

Blue Prince is one of those puzzle games best played with little knowledge going in, as much of its joy is in uncovering its surprisingly deep depths. At surface level, this is a sort-of roguelike adventure in which you map out the layout of a mysterious mansion across a 45-square grid, with your ultimate goal being to find the hidden 46th room. We have to stress, though, that there's more to the game than this, even though at times it can feel like there isn't.

It is an impeccably made work of absolute genius, and the team at Dogubomb and Game Director Tonda Ros have worked magic here. As I said at the start of this review, I think it’s one of the best things I’ve ever played. Without a doubt a shoe-in for indie darling of the year, I’d give it an 11 out of 10 if I could.

Blue Prince is one of the most memorable video game experiences I have ever had. It is at once accessible and impenetrable, frustrating and euphoric. Like each of my dozens of permutations of the Mount Holly manor house itself, it is truly one of a kind.

Blue Prince was worth the wait. It’s easily the best first-person puzzler since Portal (or its incredible sequel). With countless mansion layouts, dozens of rooms to discover and best utilize, plus a nearly constant drip-feed of lore content to absorb, this is an ideal first game for any studio. If you enjoy puzzles even a little bit, you owe it to yourself to check out Blue Prince as soon as you can. Bring a notebook or at least be ready to take a ton of screenshots as you work to unravel the game’s many layers of secrets when it launches...

To call The Blue Prince a puzzle game fails to acknowledge the many, many ways its intricate systems will surprise and excite players eager for secrets and mind-teasers. It's one of the most unique puzzle games in years, and while its tricks and mechanical hurdles can trip you up, The Blue Prince is a masterclass in design for those eager to lose themselves in a mysterious, clockwork mansion.

Even after credits, the mysteries of Mt. Holly continue to surprise me.

In pop culture, there's an old chestnut of a plotline where the main character receives a lucrative inheritance, but in order to claim it, they must spend the night at an old house. Raw Fury and Dogubomb got a similar idea with Blue Prince, though they skipped the cliche where the house is haunted. Instead, they put together a marvelous first-person blend of the roguelike and puzzle genres that will have players racking their brains through their journey to the house's antechamber and even beyond.

Blue Prince is an excellent, intricate, and intriguing puzzle game that will have you thinking about solutions even when not playing it. While there's some minor foibles, coming across a puzzle and scrolling through your notes for an answer from previous runs is very satisfying. Blue Prince is one of the best puzzle game available.

It’s not even one year ago that Lorelei and the Laser Eyes blew us away with its incredibly complex web of narrative and puzzles, and it didn’t seem like anything would hold a candle to it for a long, long time. But Blue Prince, the debut game from film (and now game) studio Dogubomb, threatens to snatch its crown. Despite being 60 hours in, I have not even come close to finding all its hidden secrets, and even as I write this, the call of those buried secrets compels me back, begging me ...
