Modern Warfare 3 is one of the most underwhelming entries in Call of Duty's 20 year history. A lackluster campaign can't distract from the tired multiplayer formula. Decade old maps, messy progression, and misaligned changes to mobility and gunplay leaves MW3 lost trying to find an identity to call its own.

Modern Warfare 3 takes a risk using recycled content to sell nostalgia, but the payoff is enticing gameplay with classic features.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II is certainly not a perfect game, but for all its flaws, it’s my favorite CoD game that I’ve played so far. The story mode was a blast, and the multiplayer is just as addicting as ever. It’s one of the best looking games we may have so far, and I recommend playing it on a next gen console or souped-up PC if you can to see it at its full potential. Infinity Ward has proven yet again that Call of Duty is at the forefront of the FPS genre, and I’m really impressed with...

Modern Warfare II is considered to be the pinnacle of Call of Duty multiplayer design. Many years have passed since the simple days of online lobbies and split screen multiplayer; we now live in the age of live-service gaming, constant seasonal updates and changes being made almost daily. The newly released spiritual sequel to 2019s Modern Warfare has now finally arrived, with special thanks and shoutout to our very own local game developer contribution from Sledgehammer Games Melbourne studi...

Once again, the makers of Call of Duty are taking us on an adventure that could have been directed by Michael Bay. We reviewed the single-player and multiplayer modes.

Despite high production values, Modern Warfare II is a tad underwhelming. A pretty yet predictable campaign, decent multiplayer that is unsure about how it’s supposed to play, and the sweet taste of Spec Ops mean this is an uneven, but enjoyable enough package. What’s clear is Call of Duty really, really needs a proper break to reset.

There is no Christmas without Kevin and there is no fall without Call of Duty. Modern Warfare 2 is a solid shooter full of content and new ideas, although it doesn't break the bar set by the 2019 reboot of the series.

Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare II is everything you’d want from a top-class FPS game. A great story full of action, memorable moments, and great characters. Fun, fast-paced gameplay with great multiplayer maps, customisation, and progression options. Even if you aren’t a fan of PVP modes, the single-player campaign is worth the price of admission.

“Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II doesn't quite live up to the heights set by the game it reboots, but it's still great for those just looking for some fun online shootouts.”

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II is a very unpleasant game. Like every Call of Duty game, the majority of time spent playing involves either killing or being killed in horrendous ways, for one thing, and there’s a natural revulsion that comes from seeing so many gouts of blood shooting from bodies or the ragged slump of newly lifeless human corpses piled up in a doorway. And yet, the surface-level hideousness of its parade of death might not be so notably ugly if it wasn't for Modern Warfare II's cast of characters and the way they – drawn from international...

For better or worse, it’s that time of year when we dive into the latest Call of Duty offering. Modern Warfare II is an indirect sequel to 2019’s Modern Warfare, and just like its predecessor, this is a reboot of the original Modern Warfare games from just over a decade ago.

There’s room for improvement, but Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II’s move into a new generation of warfare is a reminder of why Modern Warfare is the best timeline. The campaign hits hard, with some of the best performances in a Call of Duty story, the multiplayer beckons with new complexities, and a refreshed Spec Ops opens the mode up to new possibilities. A couple of misses in the UI and basic features cause some frustration, but Infinity Ward has made THEIR game, and it’s an important step into the future of Call of Duty.
