Taking his place among the survivors, Crane and co discover rumors of people immune to the virus beyond the city. With a map to a secret passage out of the city, Kyle moves to the country in search of the people that could possibly save the people of Harran. Making his way beyond the boundaries of Harran, Crane discovers that a kind of religious cult may be the answer to his problems, but in order to speak to the people and ask for help, he must first gain the trust of the people that can show him the way, which is quite a task by itself.<img decoding="async" data-attachment-id="23784" data-permalink="https://press-start.com.au/reviews/2016/02/16/dying-light-the-following-review/attachment/screenshot_0002_layer-2/" data-orig-file="https://press-start.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/Screenshot_0002_Layer-2.jpg" data-orig-size="1500,400" data-comments-opened="1" data-image-meta="{"aperture":"0","credit":"","camera":"","caption":"","created_timestamp":"0","copyright":"","focal_length":"0","iso":"0","shutter_speed":"0","title":"","orientation":"0"}" data-image-title="Screenshot_0002_Layer 2" data-image-description="" data-image-caption="" data-medium-file="https://press-start.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/Screenshot_0002_Layer-2-300x80.jpg" data-large-file="https://press-start.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/Screenshot_0002_Layer-2-600x160.jpg" class="size-full wp-image-23784 aligncenter" src="https://press-start.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/Screenshot_0002_Layer-2.jpg" alt="Screenshot_0002_Layer 2" width="1500" height="400" srcset="https://press-start.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/Screenshot_0002_Layer-2.jpg 1500w, https://press-start.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/Screenshot_0002_Layer-2-300x80.jpg 300w, https://press-start.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/Screenshot_0002_Layer-2-600x160.jpg 600w, https://press-start.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/Screenshot_0002_Layer-2-560x149.jpg 560w" sizes="(max-width: 1500px) 100vw, 1500px" />The main issue with the narrative of The Following is that whilst its composed of a decent narrative by itself, the main protagonist is still severely underdeveloped and bland, which maintains the same narrative problems that the base game itself showcases when it comes to the story. There is nothing out of the extraordinary that really throws another layer of depth on top of the lore and narrative of the main game, though its themes do help the story gain some traction as you move along.<img decoding="async" data-attachment-id="23779" data-permalink="https://press-start.com.au/reviews/2016/02/16/dying-light-the-following-review/attachment/b_presentation-16/" data-orig-file="https://press-start.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/B_PRESENTATION4.jpg" data-orig-size="2000,160" data-comments-opened="1" data-image-meta="{"aperture":"0","credit":"","camera":"","caption":"","created_timestamp":"0","copyright":"","focal_length":"0","iso":"0","shutter_speed":"0","title":"","orientation":"0"}" data-image-title="B_PRESENTATION" data-image-description="" data-image-caption="" data-medium-file="https://press-start.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/B_PRESENTATION4-300x24.jpg" data-large-file="https://press-start.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/B_PRESENTATION4-600x48.jpg" class="size-full wp-image-23779 aligncenter" src="https://press-start.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/B_PRESENTATION4.jpg" alt="B_PRESENTATION" width="2000" height="160" srcset="https://press-start.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/B_PRESENTATION4.jpg 2000w, https://press-start.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/B_PRESENTATION4-300x24.jpg 300w, https://press-start.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/B_PRESENTATION4-600x48.jpg 600w, https://press-start.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/B_PRESENTATION4-560x45.jpg 560w" sizes="(max-width: 2000px) 100vw, 2000px" />When it comes to the technical department of Dying Light, we’d like to focus more on the design and presentation of the world of The Following, though there are a few remarks that do apply to players of both the base game and the new expansion.
Dying Light: The Following's nightmare difficulty setting and additional legend level system along with improved visuals and advanced AI make for a new experience for players of the original Dying Light. The Following content itself - whether bought separately or as part of the new Enhanced Edition - offers a very different but yet worthy test, with the open fields and buggy opening up a completely different set of rules to exploit and best the legions of undead.
The Following gives Dying Light fans a whole new adventure and fresh new gameplay to experience in this stellar expansion. For those who enjoyed the base game this is certainly one to pick up, and if you haven’t then there’s no better time to jump in than now.
Just like the base game, the Following still maintains that creepy feeling that made it such a hit in the first place. Hives of infected and deep caves also add new elements that are a nice change from the original game.
The Following is full of potential that is hampered by a painful lack of in-depth balancing and polish. The expansion highlights its own weaknesses and fails to promote its own strengths in the transition towards a more vast sandbox.
Released a little over a year ago, Dying Light turned out to be a satisfyingly brutal zombie murder sim that eschewed a lot of what you expect from such titles. By making speed and evasion stronger weapons than any of the sharp objects that you acquired, when you were stuck at ground level you couldn't help but feel incredibly vulnerable – especially if you had the misfortune to be far from a safe area when night fell.
The engrossing story, the dune buggy, and the well-designed Harran countryside make The Following worth the pricier Dying Light season pass. Those that enjoyed the Dying Light base game will love The Following, and those that have yet to play Dying Light at all should definitely consider picking up Dying Light: The Following - Enhanced Edition, which includes the base game, The Following expansion, and other DLC, including The Bozack Horde add-on.
The buggy, like the rooftops, is a temporary form of safety. All of the enhancements in the latest edition – new loot, new levels, new end-game excess – are icing on the cake. Dying Light is about creating moments of safety, empowerment and comedic triumph in a world that wants nothing more than to tear you down, and The Following is a perfect expansion of that central tenet.
Just like the original Dying Light, nothing works quite as well as it should and although there are some interesting new ideas here none of them are realised without significant flaws.

Completely changing the environment that you play in and the way in which you get around that world was a bold move by Techland, but they’ve taken the challenge in their stride, and created something which is often just pure fun to play. If you’re a fan of Dying Light, then The Following is a near essential expansion.
Now there’s a lot to like about Dying Light: The Following. The gameplay’s very different from the main game, there’s loads of varied and imaginative missions, it’s an excellent challenge for anyone finished with the central campaign, and the map will take anyone hours to traverse let alone properly explore. It’s definitely good value for money, and if you’re a Season Pass owner who’s been waiting patiently for the last year you’ll be laughing. Nevertheless in crafting such a ...
In 2016, after six seasons of The Walking Dead and tons of games in recent years, the mere mention of zombies is enough to make more than a few folks turn up their noses.
As you level up your driver rank, you’ll gain access crafting better parts, install new reinforced cage parts to show off collectible paint jobs, and even turn your ride into a zombie-killing machine with ram bars, flamethrowers, and mine dispensers. Cooperative play capitalizes on this with the ability to climb in the back of another player's ride to pick off incoming viral zombies with ranged weapons like the new crossbow, which is ideal for quickly picking off bandits and zombies alike with satisfying headshots. Or, you can competitively race with up to three other players.
