One of the best things that Forza 5 Motorsport does is it’s use of the new Haptic feedback in the Xbox One controller. It really gives you an extra sense of control when you’re using your favourite car on the track. It adds another level of immersion and was one of the best things about the game on the Xbox One.

Forza Motorsport is the best kind of racing simulator. It understands that some players sometimes just want to sit down and smash out a few laps in a Bugatti without having to think too hard about it. In the same breath, it’s also capable of letting you challenge yourself to become a better racer and provides a comprehensive number of tools to enable and encourage you to do so.

Forza Motorsport is a triumphant return for the simulation racing series, and it has never been as approachable or rewarding.

After 6 long years, Forza Motorsport is back and rebooted for the current generation so let's take to the track and check it out.

On the track, Forza Motorsport is still in pole position, but in terms of content depth and variety, it’s languishing somewhere near the back, being lapped by the competition.

After a dozen or so hours of unlearning my Horizon habits and forming myself into a semi-respectable sim racer, I can say that Forza Motorsport is perhaps the best of the best, at least right now. It's got it all: hundreds of cars to buy, tune, and race across a decent single-player campaign that's worth investing in. There's also an extensive multiplayer suite if you want to take your wheelman skills to the world. I gave it a go and came out with my tail between my legs, so it's not for me, but I can see the appeal, and fans of the franchise will definitely enjoy what's on offer, especially the rolling live events. And finally, if you just want to kick back and throw some cars around, or maybe try your hand at the infamous Nurburgring and try to post a best lap to the leaderboards, you've got the custom events to play around with. All said, you're getting a lot of bang for your buck with Forza Motorsport, and as it stands, I just don't know how Turn 10 can up the ante on the next one.

A long overdue return for Microsoft’s flagship racer that’s got mileage to reach its full potential beyond its underwhelming launch content.

While I still think Forza Horizon is the better series, there is no denying Forza Motorsport has the best driving around. Racing fans should pick up Game Pass and give it a go.

I really did forget just how much I love cars until playing the new Forza Motorsport, and that's exactly what the developers intended. The game works hard to make you feel the cars that you're driving, focusing on the sound and how the performance translates to your controller. Something about the precision and power behind these machines makes them feel tangible through the screen, and Turn 10 masterfully showed them another level of respect.

Forza Motorsport is an addictive, shockingly fun, extremely impressive visual showcase for the franchise. I was amazed by how often I wanted to play more, get more slick cars, and keep striving to perform better.

Forza Motorsport’s refined handling, next-gen visuals, and responsive physics tempt you with an accessible yet familiar thrill, especially when you avoid spiraling into a bend.

If you’ve ever gotten work done on your car, you might be familiar with the weird feeling that comes with waiting for a tune-up to be finished. You don’t know how long it will take, and all you can do is hope that all of the proper adjustments are being made so it can last for the long haul, whether you’re going on a cross-country road trip or, like me, just hope to keep the car for several more years. That feeling has surrounded the Forza Motorsport series for six years.

Something new that has been introduced is taking part in practice sessions before each race. Much like in real world motor racing, this gives drivers an understanding of the racetrack, and Forza Motorsport incentivizes this by providing XP back to the player for completion. This adds an element of realism to the game, much like the game's penalties for collisions or going off track, but it does mean that those players who want to skip practice sessions may feel like they're being penalized. Nonetheless, it's still a good addition, particularly for drivers who play on high difficulty where no mistakes are acceptable.

After six years of waiting for the next iteration of Forza Motorsport, Turn 10 Studios delivers a solid offering, packed with hundreds of cars, upgrades, and tuning options, all bundled in a gorgeous presentation package. Not outstanding, but good support for racing hardware means that the experience on track is exactly what Forza fans have been waiting for. There is no doubt that hundreds of hours of fun can be found here, especially if you enjoy diving deep into each vehicle's characteristics. Featured online events backed by AI regulations promise to provide the opportunity to show off all the skills and customizations to your friends. I'd say it's time to hit the track and get practicing!

Turn 10 Studios has taken what was already a decent simulator racer and improved on it in so many ways that it’s impossible not to enjoy it as a car and racing fan. The attention to detail when it comes to the tracks, the cars, the mechanics, and even the performance. This trumps every previous effort, every prior Forza Motorsport game that Turn 10 has ever developed, and I’m sure that was the plan all along.

Forza Motorsport really does create a platform that leaves an open track to expand on. This is the easiest Forza to get into and it performs at such a high level, you may forget it's just a game. There's nothing standing between you and the racetrack.

Forza Motorsport is another fantastic entry into the series. Bringing some fantastic tracks, visuals, and elevating the already stellar driving.

It can be rare for a newer franchise to challenge a well-established genre leader for the throne, but that’s precisely what the Forza Motorsport series has done since its first entry in 2005. Since then, the sim-racing genre has featured dueling front-runners, with Gran Turismo and Forza Motorsport taking turns in the lead. The latest entry, simply titled Forza Motorsport, takes a back-to-basics approach to keep pace with its chief rival.

Forza Motorsport's fantastic online racing, brilliant weather effects, and liquid-smooth game engine are at odds with the dull, one-note offline gameplay that's nowhere near as fun as that of its superlative predecessor. Turn 10 has delivered a racing game that's slicker than ever, but also a bit of a step backwards.

In an ironic twist, what was once a shining jewel in Xbox’s catalog, and the apex of simulation, has now become a timid companion piece to the infinitely more fulfilling Forza Horizon.

October 4, 2023 Read Review

Turn 10 has displayed its technical proficiency and understanding of the sim-racing genre once more with this stellar entry into the Forza Motorsport series. It is a shame that an always-online requirement casts a shadow that looms over what is an otherwise genre-defining game.

A generous and lavish racer, with thrilling driving, that wants you for the long haul.

But beyond that, there are a few areas that could use some fine-tuning. Specifically in its RPG mechanics, which can feel like a grind for upgrading vehicles. It also lacks tracks and modes, but that’s something that can be fixed over time. It’s still an issue for launch, though I’m sure in the year to come, Turn 10 will have Forza Motorsport firing on all cylinders to make it the ultimate racing simulator.

Forza Motorsport takes few risks, but snatches simcade supremacy anyway.

Turn 10 Studios and PlayGround Games have improved the simulation racing aspect with Forza Motorsport. The racing is clearly the focus and the results are best experienced with a wheel as the tire model physics have helped to push this more into sim racing territory. The game still offers accessibility to those who need it while helping players new to car culture and racing better understand the elements of it. The Builders Cup is the bulk of the game, but the way cars are upgraded and the slow progression will probably offer a mixed reaction. The selection of cars is excellent and the game also offers a great variety of circuits with notable American circuits not typically seen in games, but some other questionable ones are missing. The graphics requirements are pushed, but it doesn't seem like a large upgrade, if any, over Forza Horizon 5 at launch. There are other cars on the track and a lot more going on then Horizon, but to take advantage of Ray Tracing requires a lot, and to maximize the visual experience on the Series X means the racing is done at 30 FPS. The updated multiplayer options is welcoming and Rivals allows for something different, but this game is much more grounded than what the Horizon series offers. Forza Motorsport is the best mainline series release in years, even if some of the design decisions hamper the experience.
