Borderlands 3 has been quite the controversial title since releasing a few years ago. The two biggest reasons were the story and the two antagonists – them being a pair of streamers rubbed a few people the wrong way. As for me, I wasn’t overly bothered by it, but I agree that the narrative left a bad taste in my mouth. That ending was and remains a big middle finger to fans because of the questions it left behind. Still, there’s no disputing that the gameplay formula of looting and sho...

Tiny Tina's Wonderlands might as well be an expansion for Borderlands 3. Only fans of Borderlands who can tolerate Tiny Tina should consider this game.

Tiny Tina's Wonderlands is an easy recommendation for Borderlands and D&D fans, but those who have had their fill of the franchise may get tired of the repetitive combat and constantly looting useless items. The technical problems are the biggest issue, so hopefully, Gearbox Software releases new Tiny Tina's Wonderlands updates to address them soon.

I can’t say I didn’t enjoy all of my time with Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, because I did enjoy quite a bit of it. And when they patch out the bugs I’m sure it will be a much better experience. Unfortunately, the things I butted heads with that are inherent to the design of the game sapped all of the joy out of it and by the time I finished the campaign, I just wanted to be done with it and move on to something else.

Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands plays it safe, never leaning enough into its fantasy elements or bringing any significant changes to the Borderlands formula, but offering more of the fun looting and shooting the main series is known for. It boasts better writing and humor than Borderlands 3 while throwing in interesting spells and class powers that spice up its otherwise familiar combat system.

Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands had the potential to take RPG games and make them into something more like an RPG/FPS hybrid, but Gearbox forgot to keep the RPG bits in other sections of Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands outside of the story. If there was more focus on the RPG side of things rather than established Looter/Shooter mechanics, then Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands would be a much better game. But at the moment, it’s just another Borderlands game, but a fan Borderlands game.

Following the disaster that was Borderlands 3's writing, there was some serious pressure on Gearbox to deliver this time around. Tiny Tina's Wonderlands isn't a spectacular game and doesn't live up to Borderlands 2, but I doubt most people will care about that. The simple fact is that we got a Borderlands game that is fun with a story that isn't painful to experience. That's a win in my book.

Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands is an excellent spin-off that adds its own twists to what makes Borderlands great.

A reskinned Borderlands 3 that would’ve been much better off as an expansion, given it’s too short to justify the outrageously high price tag and too long to hide the lack of variety and new ideas.

It’s amazing that a DLC was the inspiration for Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands. But is a fantasy twist to the Borderlands formula what the series needs to shake things up or are you just getting more of the same?

Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands doesn’t stray too far from the Borderlands series, but it doesn’t need to when the consistently funny characters and familiar yet satisfying gameplay are this enjoyable from front to back.

Wonderlands mixes over-the-top combat, wonderfully absurd guns, interesting classes, and fun characters to create the best version of this series I've ever played. It's weirdly wholesome, patently absurd, and frequently obnoxious, but the intent feels far purer than what you might expect. When you then add in the excellent voice acting, and the fact that you can play this through with friends and strangers, you get a really entertaining FPS RPG that I'd be happy to recommend to anyone.

If you read our review of Borderlands 3, then you've basically read our review of Tiny Tina's Wonderlands, only this game isn't as good. We're just doing it again in different words, and we're a little more weary this time around. Nothing of much consequence has changed between the two games. The budget is lower, clearly, and the level design is worse, pretty much objectively. Oh, and it's wearing a wizard's hat this time. Other than that, it's just another Borderlands game, and this is just another Borderlands review.

If you don’t mind the odd teething problem, there really is so much to love about Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands. The campaign will keep you glued to your seat thanks to its excellent storytelling and fantastic voice cast. And its world outshines just about any we’ve seen in the Borderlands series yet; it’s huge, and offers so much scope to explore even beyond the main story and side quests. Its endgame is promising too, offering plenty of reason to keep jumping back in. Is it Gearbox’s best game to date? Once those few bugs are tidied up, it might just be....

Wonderlands manages to instead fix many of those issues while injecting new ideas to make it a special entry in the franchise thanks to more than just its setting. Hopefully, the game’s season pass will only continue to polish it even more, and the developers at Gearbox will take the lessons from Wonderlands into the series’ future.

Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands does not try to reinvent the Borderlands wheel. Instead, it molds it into something fresh enough to satisfy fans of the series that are looking for more. Just know that if you do not like the titular character then this is not the game for you, as there is a whole bonkload of Tina. If the $70 price tag on Series consoles doesn’t scare you off, and you have a few friends to play with then you will enjoy this expertly crafted Schlooter.

Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands is decidedly part of the Borderlands franchise, a fully-fledged title that owes its existence to a piece of DLC found within Borderlands 2. While taking on a name of its own, it still shares the same mechanics and humour of titles of old, love or hate ‘em.

Take a sprinkle of that patented Borderland’s insanity, pepper in some evolved FPS gunplay and looting, and add a healthy dose of lovable boisterousness spewed from the mouth of a misunderstood and bombastic young narrator. Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands is an exciting spinoff on the Borderlands franchise, expanding upon an idea first forged back in 2013 with Tiny Tina’s Assault on Dragon Keep, a DLC chapter for the largely enjoyed Borderlands 2.

Tiny Tina's Wonderlands is Gearbox Software's best game. Built upon the studio's successful Borderlands formula, this experience adds a whimsical element to the familiar looter-shooter thrills and delivers so much firepower to your fingertips you'd think you were wearing the Infinity Gauntlet. Caked in silliness and always trying to make you laugh, Wonderlands hits with distinct charm and handles its characters and world with care, making you engage with both on a journey I didn't want to end.

Tiny Tina's Wonderlands is the best way to change the Borderlands formula and quite possibly the best Borderlands game to date. A lot of this is due to the change of setting and the unchained feeling tying directly into deeper customization. There are obviously fans of the series that prefer the post-apocalyptic design in comparison to a D&D fantasy RPG element. This game feels like what Blood Dragon was to Far Cry, but not necessarily to that extreme. Tiny Tina keeps everything that makes the Borderlands series great and improves on it to the point that going back to the...

About a month ago, I had the privilege of previewing Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, the latest Borderlands spinoff from Gearbox Software and 2K. What I experienced was an entirely new take on Borderlands, something that combined the looter-shooter gameplay we all know and love with RPG-like stats, classes, gear, and more. While the gameplay was fun, the characters and story in the side area I explored were not, and I was worried that this would be representative of the game as a whole.

While the gameplay felt familiar, Tiny Tina and the rest of the main cast carry this one on their backs through witty, fun dialogue that stayed consistently entertaining throughout the campaign. The banter, fantasy setting, and TTRPG concept really created so much more enjoyment than I expected to find here.

Borderlands is a series that’s largely refused to grow with the times. When you put the first and third games next to each other, it’s shocking that there was a decade between them because of how similar they are. So, when Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands was announced, I was intrigued as to whether this spin-off would break out of the mold the series has cast itself in.

Tiny Tina's Wonderlands doesn't reinvent the wheel that is Borderlands. Instead, it throws on a coat of paint, a selection of sparkly charms, and a couple of bedazzled stickers to create something that's not wholly unique but different enough to stand apart from the original. While it may not convert those gamers who never clicked with Borderlands, it offers up enough changes to appeal to long-time fans and players desperately looking for a compelling action RPG.

Borderlands sells itself of crass humour and billions of similar but technically different weaponry. The model, originally established over a decade ago, has served Gearbox well through several games and spinoffs since. Tiny Tina, the miniature explosive expert, became an instant fan favorite when she was introduced in the second Borderlands installment. Her D&D-inspired DLC Assault on Dragon Keep was hailed as a standout amongst the various Borderlands 2 DLCs. Several years later, this Bunkers and Badasses in-joke has been expanded even further into its own fully-fledged spinoff with new characters, classes, abilities, and weapons. But while it offers some...

Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands presents a fresh take on Borderlands, retaining the core of the series while adding some fun new twists both in its setting and gameplay. Character creation and multi-classing ensure each Fatemaker is unique when shooting, looting, and questing. While it certainly has issues like less weapon variety and a lack of challenging content, this is the best in the series so far.
