Dragon Quest Builders
When the announcement was first revealed that my favourite RPG franchise Dragon Quest would be coming out with a new spin-off that combined the universe with the building and creation aspects of Minecraft, I was skeptical. I never understood Minecraft as a trend, mostly because I’m not good at creating...
FIFA 17
Another year goes by and there’s one thing you can be sure of that will come along with it: FIFA is back. Sadly, FIFA 17 is only a slight upgrade on last years FIFA 16. Some new gameplay elements that players have been asking for have been included, like improved throw-ins,...
The Bioshock series, for me, was one of the defining franchises of the last console generation. With an absolutely sublime narrative, fun and intuitive gameplay, and a couple of large scoops of daddy issues; it has always come highly recommended. But how has it aged? Does it still hold up in...
Gears of War 4
When it comes to intensity, violence, big action set pieces and hyper masculine energy, nothing quite compares to the Gears of War franchise. With the original being released 10 years ago and several successful games in its lineage since, the excitement for this particular Gears fanboy to get stuck in...
Master of Orion
Long before No Man’s Sky, the granddaddy of 4X gaming Master of Orion set the stage for conquering the universe back in 1993. Like the original, Master of Orion: Conquer the Stars is a turn-based strategy, in quintessential 4X gaming style. Playing as one of 10 races, it is your...
NHL 17
Things might be starting to warm up on this side of the world, but in the US and Canada the National Hockey League season is just around the corner, and with it the release of NHL 17.
NBA 2K17
NBA2K17 oozes realness and it’s very clear that it’s a game put together by a team that are passionate and that live and breathe basketball. So much work has gone into this years installment in the series, right through from the detailed animation of the NBA stars to the fluid...
Soccer has always been a staple in any video game library, and for years now we’ve always had the choice between two giants, FIFA or Pro Evolution Soccer. Both consistently are strong in different ways, but while one focuses more on the presentation and overall flare that comes with watching...
Psycho-Pass: Mandatory Happiness is the graphic novel adaptation of the highly successful Psycho-Pass anime. A dystopia disguised in a euphoric veil, the world of Tokyo in 2022 is controlled by the Sibyl System, an intelligent AI that determines almost every element to your life; where you will go to school,...
Forza Horizon 3
Driving down the Great Ocean Road in a Ferrari or taking a tour of the Australian Outback in your four-wheel drive no longer needs to be something you have to take a whole weekend, a loan and a holiday to enjoy, as Forza Horizon 3 brings the open-world driving experience...
ReCore
ReCore started out as a game I always thought the Xbox was missing from its repertoire. A solid, fun and engaging 3D platformer for the younger generation or those of us from the 80s and 90s with some hardcore nostalgia goggles for games like Super Mario 64, Banjo Kazooie and...
Fallout 4: Nuka World
It’s time to play devil’s advocate. The sixth and final DLC expansion to Fallout 4, Nuka-World, really isn’t that bad. There has been a lot of press flying around about how this wasn’t the finale to Fallout 4 that everyone was hoping for. I would argue that for a game...
