Hitman 3 is a fantastic addition and culmination of the World of Assassination trilogy that offers plenty to do and see within the framework IOI has established. While the last map left me underwhelmed, the rest off plenty of value and make it well worth the price of admission.

The third and final game in IO Interactive's Hitman World of Assassination trilogy has finally arrived for next-gen and it's great.

Hitman 3 is the grand finale of the World of Assassination trilogy, started back in 2016 with a rebooted Hitman. As such, the game will feel incredibly familiar to players of the previous two games, but there’s more than enough mayhem laced with dark humor to keep those players occupied. The first AAA release of 2021, many will be pleased to hear the year has gotten off to a great start because IO Interactive’s latest title is our favorite hitman at his very best.

However, there are plenty of opportunities to take advantage of the inherent ridiculousness of Agent 47’s dead pan delivery and Poe-faced cosplaying.

Hitman 3 is a stunningly intricate work of video game art. As a franchise neophyte, I was delighted by the amazing world building and level design. While I expected a gangbusters action game, Hitman 3's more deliberate pacing has converted me into a series fan. Beautiful, sophisticated, and a mountain of fun, Hitman 3 is a revelation.

There’s a sense IO Interactive is keen to dedicate attention to their upcoming James Bond project judging by some of the 007-inspired levels here, yet Hitman 3 represents the studio’s biggest achievement to date. After enduring experimental release cycles and turbulence in becoming a fully independent studio over the trilogy’s course, Hitman 3 is the perfected, fully realised vision of this reimagined franchise.

On the whole though, IO Interactive has set the tenor for AAA gaming in 2021. Hitman 3 is a thoughtfully constructed and masterfully designed title. While it could've used another round of polish before release, the PS5 build has the occasional (albeit easily patched) technical hiccup, though nothing that takes away from the overarching success here. In a word, Hitman 3 is elegant.

I’ll admit, I have never been the biggest fan of Hitman series; I dabbled with the franchise here and there, mostly enjoying Blood Money for what it offered, but I never truly appreciated the franchise until the release of the 2016 reboot of the series, which vastly expanded what the Hitman games could achieve in terms of graphics, storyelling, and most importantly, freedom of how to tackle your objectives in massive pseudo-open levels. Now here we are with Hitman 3, the finale in what is c...

Coupled with extra gadgets (some of which can be imported – though not as swimmingly on PC), Hitman 3 is really fun to dive back into; or introduce someone to for that matter, just to see what they come up with. It’s the little things that add up and really make Hitman 3 special.

Hitman 3 may not introduce much to the established Hitman formula, but it messes with that formula in unique and confident ways with varied and interesting locations that make this the best of the Hitman trilogy.

The mere existence of Hitman 3 sometimes feels like a minor miracle. It’s rare for each entry in a trilogy to have a different publisher, but somehow Agent 47’s latest trio of games have pulled off the improbable feat – Square Enix ditched the Hitman franchise (and its developers) back in 2017, Warner Bros. Interactive stepped in for Hitman 2, and now IO Interactive is going the self-publishing route with Hitman 3.

Hitman 3 is a fantastic conclusion to one of gaming's truly great trilogies and, with this Cloud Version, Switch players get to join in the fun in an experience that delivers the goods – so long as you've got the bandwidth to handle it. The expected, unavoidable technical shortcomings of streaming a game over the internet – input lag, visual dips and framerate issues – are all present and correct to some degree but, on the whole, if your broadband setup is up to the task, you'll find that a perfectly playable version of a slick and addictive stealth title...

Hitman 3 is a superb final entry in what must now be regarded as one of gaming's truly great trilogies. This is a fittingly slick and satisfying send off for Agent 47, a succession of expertly crafted and endlessly replayable missions - omitting that final level dud - that sees our favourite assassin wind up his story in triumphantly fine form. IO Interactive really has brought all of their mission crafting expertise to bear here, resulting in a handful of levels that rank with the very best Hitman has to offer, and all while throwing in a couple of genuine...

Back in 2016 began the revival of the iconic Hitman series, starring our favourite bald and barcode branded assassin. It was a solid return to form, albeit hurt a bit by its episodic format. Since then, developer IO Interactive split from under Square Enix’s publishing wing and went on to release the sequel in 2018. Now, IO look to resolve their ‘World of Assassination’ trilogy with Hitman 3. Frankly, they do so in a big way. Agent 47 really gets to go out with a bang.

Charting the series’ progress since that 2016 Paris debut has been a fascinating journey. IO have learned a lot over the past five years and that really shows in Hitman 3. It’s a flashier, more fluid evolution of IO’s original template - a rewarding conclusion to one of the most unique video game franchises around, and one we’ll continue playing for many weeks and months to come.

When all is said and done, Hitman 3 has a few hiccups, but it’s a stunning finale to the series and a fantastic game to play even if you haven’t played the ones before it. The way the writing of the game lays out past events helps ensure that even if you didn’t beat the last two in the franchise, you’re up to speed with the story so far. Throw in the added elements to get you playing missions multiple times and the more expansive online elements I have not mentioned here and you have a game worthy to pick...

Hitman 3 is the end of an era. After birthing the series in 2000 and becoming synonymous with it since, IO Interactive is letting Agent 47 kick up his feet and have some well-deserved time off from all the coordinated killing. But his looming retirement has not dulled his killer instinct as Hitman 3 is one of his best contracts in the past two decades.

Taken as a complete package, Hitman 3 delivers the World of Assassination trilogy's comprehensive culmination, doubling down on its winning stealth-puzzle formula and creating some of the franchise’s best playgrounds yet. It’s a morbid comedy of errors that doesn’t punish players for concocting a ludicrous plan — it actively eggs them on. 8/10.

Although there are a few issues (namely with its save system and soon-to-be-fixed progress carry-over function), Hitman 3's mission stories, level design, and creative assassinations provide the franchise's "greatest hits" record. It's the perfect way to cap off Agent 47's journey.

Agent 47 has been an arbiter of death for decades now, using his finely honed skillset in a variety of dirty business around the world. With Hitman 3, his World of Assassination trilogy comes to its inevitably bloody end. Over these three games, IO Interactive boldly set out to create a seamless Hitman experience that felt consistent, from the tutorial mission to the conclusion. After playing through this stunning finale, I’m relieved that the studio stuck the landing. Every mission in the final arc is a statement, demonstrating a mastery of level design and a darkly playful willingness to subvert...

Hitman 3 doesn’t break the mould, it merely beats in some extra details that give it a little extra depth and richness. For fans of the series it won’t be an issue; this is the final piece in a trilogy, after all – if it was too different it would stand out like a sore thumb. Ultimately, then, the only really disappointing aspect of Hitman 3 is its final location, which plays more like a sequence from Hitman: Absolution. With every other location offering so many possibilities, however, it’s forgivable. Chances are we aren’t going to be placed in control...

Good morning, 47. After 2 games across 15 locations, IO Interactive returns to wrap up the World of Assassination trilogy in Hitman 3. More of the same in the best possible way, Hitman 3 is a fantastic way to spend a few dozen (or hundred) hours this winter.

In the current trilogy, Hitman 3 would be considered the weaker of the three. The Hitman games have always been entertaining and well crafted, and the third entry is no different. There are grand moments that will leave you enthralled, from the Knives Out-esque murder mystery to skydiving to one of the tallest buildings in Dubai. The environments are also a highlight as they’re not only a visual treat, but contain an incredible amount of detail that encourage creativity from the player. Unfortunately, there are hang ups that drag the experience down. The focus on the rushed story has taken...

Hitman 3 closes out the World of Assassination Trilogy with developer IO Interactive in confident mood. Lessons learned from the past five or six years have worked their way into this splendid epitaph for a series that looked dead and buried more than once along the way. As with its predecessor’s, there are some lows to go with the highs, but those highs? They are truly something special and make the future of IO Interactive an exciting prospect.

Without straying far from the successful sandbox formula, it's an excellent final part of IO's trilogy. While the increased freedom and level variety won't be for everyone, Hitman 3 boasts some of the best locations and stories the series has ever seen, and there's so much to uncover in each and every one of them.

Taken individually, Hitman 3 feels like great value, with plenty of variety and lots to do. When taken as a whole, the World of Assassination trilogy is hands-down one of the best and most complete-feeling trilogies in video game history. It’s a fitting finale for 47 - at least for now - and it has naturally left me thrilled to see what IO does with James Bond or whatever else comes next. It might only be January - but I can pretty much guarantee this will end the year as one of my 2021 favourites.

However, if you put in the time, you'll be treated to one of the most engaging and rewarding stealth experiences in all of gaming.

All told, though, Hitman 3 is one of the best stealth games ever made. Those that have enjoyed the last two games in the rebooted trilogy will find more to appreciate here, while newcomers to the franchise will get a highly replayable romp through expertly crafted levels. The disjointed narrative may be off-putting to some, but those willing to overlook the shortcomings of the story are getting an otherwise near-perfect stealth game with exceptional replay value and astounding visual fidelity.

While I enjoyed the conclusion to the World of Assassination trilogy’s narrative, the best that Hitman 3 has to offer is when it sets players loose in its levels to be creative and explore. Nothing beats the process of plotting out a potential route, working out the various pieces by saving and loading repeatedly, then finally putting it all together in that perfect run. That’s still there in Hitman 3 as it was previously, but each time a mission asked me to retrieve something it felt like a chore after my first run. Still, it offers players a huge amount...

Rich, rewarding, and highly replayable, Hitman 3 is a superb instalment of IO’s idiosyncratic but much-loved stealth series. The fundamentals haven’t changed since 2016 but its collection of outstanding maps makes for a refined, reliable, and robust curtain-closer to the current Hitman trilogy. Six maps may sound slim but each one is huge and designed to be played several times over – and even then it’s very unlikely you’ll have uncovered all of its creative and surprising assassination opportunities. There really isn’t a weak one in the bunch. This barcoded butcher has made a lot of appearances over the past...
