Providing suspenseful horror and sheer action across both its protagonists, Resident Evil: Requiem is yet another Capcom banger that survival horror fans will absolutely love.

Resident Evil Requiem is the perfect blend of the two sides of survival horror that Resident Evil established. There's the genuinely scary survival horror, where you have to manage your items, and then the badass action side, where you can vent your aggression built up from being scared.

It’s been a whopping thirty years since the release of the first Resident Evil game, as well as its impact taking survival horror to the next level. The franchise has, admittedly, had its fair share of ups and downs over the past few decades, but it’s still a series I’ve stuck by every step of the way. We now have a brand new canonical entry with Resident Evil Requiem, the ninth (tenth if you’re counting Zero) mainline title, meant to celebrate RE’s history, delivering an experience...

A haunting return to survival horror’s beating heart.

February 26, 2026 Read Review

Resident Evil Requiem is an intoxicating mix of the series’ DNA, blending exhilarating action and palpable horror to make not only one of the best Resident Evil games, but one of the best modern survival horror experiences.

After terrifying us with first-person horror, Resident Evil Requiem sees the triumphant return of third-person over-the-shoulder action. With an eye cast across the series’ history, this is a confident blend of the best of old and new Resident Evil, combining the stalking horror of Resident Evil 2 and the exhilarating action of Resident Evil 4, with just the right dose of intimate scares that defined Resident Evil 7.

Resident Evil Requiem is everything that RE fans could want out of the next entry in the series and more. It walks a tightrope of horror and action, but has perfected this balance in a way that delivers a heart-stopping, adrenaline-pumping good time, regardless of what kind of RE fan you are. While the story is a little basic with a rushed ending, the game sets itself up so strongly in the first half, with perfect gameplay and scares, that it doesn't really matter. Requiem has not only revitalized the Resident Evil formula, but perfected it in the most anxiety-inducing and melancholy entry the series has seen yet, giving players more than enough to satisfy their hunger and bloodthirst, but also leaving room for more down the road, leaving us excited for what's in store for Resident Evil's (very bright) future.

February 25, 2026 Read Review

In short, for anyone who’s started the series from Resident Evil 7 onwards, Resident Evil Requiem may easily be one of the best in the series. For everyone else, the bar is high to be considered one of the greats, but it definitely does a heck of a job jumping for it.

February 25, 2026 Read Review

Resident Evil Requiem amalgamates its two entities into a cohesive, demonic monster, resulting in one of the series’ most complete entries to date. From its tense, immersive exploration that highlights vulnerability to its visceral combat that revels in brutality, it delivers a nightmare that feels both refined and feral. A masterpiece in horror, and an early Game of the Year contender.

Even with its disparities, abysmal pacing, and continuations of mechanics already explored and somewhat exhausted, Requiem was a bloody good time, and I look forward to seeing how it digests in my stomach. Maybe I’ll see if its scent settles, if it will be tucked away in some hole in my memory, and I will think of Grace and Leon when I sense it, out in the world. Or, more likely, if its smell will soon dissipate, never to occupy a place inside my brain.

Resident Evil Requiem is about two people whose lives are forever altered by the worst day of work ever. Those same people then risk it all to save someone. This act is unfeigned, full of the corny sincerity that is a staple of this series, and it is the heartbeat the hordes of undead they will maim are missing. Resident Evil Requiem is also a game about roundhouse-kicking zombies, physics-defying motorcycle chases, and a story that requires years of crisscrossed history to fully understand w...

Resident Evil Requiem sets itself out with a hard task: wrapping all the best elements of previous Resident Evil games into one. Miraculously it succeeds, with very few moments which left me wanting more.

February 25, 2026 Read Review

Resident Evil Requiem shines in its incredible first half, which masterfully blends pulse-pounding horror with intense action. Unfortunately, that winning formula isn’t maintained throughout the latter sections, which devolve into fan-service moments strung together by an increasingly sloppy plot. Still enjoyable, but ironic that an instalment about moving on from the past would be so weighed down by it.

It’s been close to five years since our last mainline entry of the Resident Evil franchise was released with Village back in 2021. Not only did that game continue Resident Evil 7’s first-person point-of-view, but it also continued — and concluded — Ethan Winters’ story.

February 25, 2026 Read Review

Resident Evil Requiem is the most cinematic, bloody, surprisingly emotional moment for the franchise to-date. Its two protagonists complement one another for a balanced experience that feels more narrativized than ever before, with bombastic combat and strong set pieces amping up the nostalgia without feeling gimmicky. Requiem sees Capcom drawing from 30 years of terror to expand its lore, chart a path forward, and pay homage to a gilded survival horror legacy – one with plenty of life left in it.

Resident Evil’s family tree contains many branches. Going back almost 30 years, you’ve got classic survival horror, action survival horror, spinoffs (most not worth remembering), and the new era of games that began with 2017’s Resident Evil 7: Biohazard. Some games focus more on one style of play than the other; Resident Evil 2 leans more into survival horror, while RE4 prefers doling out action draped with horror motifs.

Resident Evil Requiem is a game that uses the full history of the series and creates one of the most stellar gaming experiences I’ve come across for a long time.

The most entertaining new Resident Evil game in over two decades, with fantastic combat, amazing graphics, effective scares, and the most enjoyably bad one-liners in the business.

February 25, 2026 Read Review

One of the most fascinating things about Resident Evil, as a franchise, is how often these games take on different interpretations as the series progresses. We don’t think of Resident Evil 5 the same way as when it came out, or Resident Evil 6, or Village. This is one of the few gaming franchises that meaningfully uses the past, both narratively and from a design standpoint. These are games integrally shaped by their place in time, the world, and the larger series. And similarly, I think Requiem is a game that we’ll be talking about for years to come, reevaluating more than once.

The ninth entry in Capcom’s zombie-slaying series is a tale of two halves. Unlike 2021’s Village, which attempted to make survival and action-horror work in a single campaign, Capcom decouples the styles and hands them off to Requiem’s dual heroes.

Capcom marks Resident Evil's 30th anniversary with a stellar return that's both a masterful bit of suffocating horror and a nostalgic, fan-thrilling victory lap for the legendary series.

With its dual-protagonist setup, Resident Evil Requiem caters to both those who love traditional survival horror as well as action horror. Throw in a fantastic range of truly terrifying enemies, including zombies that feel freakier than ever thanks to their unique behaviours, and you have one of the best Resident Evil games yet, especially for those who can appreciate both of its distinct gameplay styles.

February 25, 2026 Read Review

Resident Evil Requiem does a good job creating a classic Resident Evil experience, while also giving the characters and story room to breathe through swapping protagonists. Fun (and scary) from the first moment you're jumpscared!

Resident Evil Requiem combines elements from prior installments to deliver one of the strongest entries yet. Though it doesn’t take risks, its thrilling gameplay and stunning graphics keep you engaged from beginning to end.

Resident Evil Requiem feels like the culmination of everything the series has been building to and building on over the last thirty years. The story, gameplay, and sound design are all remarkable.

February 25, 2026 Read Review

With potent scares and thrilling action, Resident Evil Requiem delivers a memorable experience that successfully combines the series’ action and horror sides, while also telling a compelling story that expands the Resident Evil mythos in fascinating ways.

Grace isn't going to be popping off every enemy she sees with a magnum. Instead, you'll have more limited amounts of ammo, a string of breakable, smaller knives (as opposed to Leon's beast of a hatchet that can be repaired in real time), and more of a reliance on crafting for supplies. If you select the optional classic mode (which forces players to use ink ribbon items to save), it feels even more like a classic Resident Evil, much more so than 7 and 8.

February 25, 2026 Read Review

Resident Evil Requiem is a confident, gorgeous-looking and genuinely scary romp that expertly balances its horror and action elements into one compelling, hair-raising package. Grace is one of the best new characters the series has introduced to date, and a perfect complement to veteran zombie slayer Leon. As the series celebrates its 30th anniversary, Resident Evil Requiem sees the franchise at its strongest in years.

February 25, 2026 Read Review

The Resident Evil series has largely gone from strength to strength in recent years, with Capcom serving up a number of distinct takes on the series, from the hardcore horror of Resident Evil 7 to the intense action and zingers of the Resident Evil 4 remake. And now, Capcom is preparing to roll out Resident Evil Requiem, a game that promises to combine a lot of what they’ve been doing with the series recently into one terrifying concoction.

February 25, 2026 Read Review

Anyone can play and enjoy Requiem, including brand-new Resident Evil fans, but long-time fans of the franchise will get the most out of it. Once Resident Evil Requiem gets going, it doesn't let up until the very end. It's still early in the year, but RE9 is already a Game of the Year contender, and it seems destined to be the best horror game of 2026.

February 25, 2026 Read Review

Resident Evil Requiem brings the best of the franchise in terms of survival horror and action to deliver a memorable narrative full of nostalgia and peak survival horror experiences.

February 25, 2026 Read Review

Resident Evil Requiem stuffs three decades of fan service into a single package, all while maintaining its place as a mainline entry to the series. While it’s not without its tedium, and the new protagonist takes a minute to find her feet, Requiem finally strikes the balance between action and horror that Capcom’s wrestled with for all these years.

February 25, 2026 Read Review

After a series of fantastic remakes and two games focusing on the misadventures of Ethan Winters, Resident Evil Requiem finally returns to continue Leon Kennedy’s attempts to take down the Umbrella Corporation and end its legacy. Once again, he is not alone in his task, although rather than a series staple we now have a new character in the form of Grace Ashcroft, an FBI agent who is also the daughter of a character from the PS2 Outbreak spin-offs. This connection between different strands of Resident Evil is emblematic of the game as a whole; a game which at times feels like a compilation of highlights from the series in terms of references and set pieces. This isn’t a criticism, though, as the pacing is so well judged here that any long-time fan will be grinning for the duration.

February 25, 2026 Read Review

Resident Evil Requiem continues to breathe life into the series, making excellent use of new and old ideas to tell a story that fans will love every second of.

February 25, 2026 Read Review

Resident Evil Requiem concocts a winning formula for combining survival horror with bombastic action. By mixing elements from every game in the series, Requiem triumphantly celebrates 30 years of Resident Evil. While not every note proves fresh, the game’s weapon variety, intriguing storyline, and endearing duo of Grace and Leon make for a horror experience sure to thrill fans and newcomers alike.

February 25, 2026 Read Review

Resident Evil Requiem is the culmination of everything Capcom has done with the series since Resident Evil 7 Biohazard. It offers some of the best survival horror action gameplay in the series, while finding ways to keep the more horror-focused sections still feeling tense. The story requires you to be all in on the series lore, but Leon and Grace both offer plenty of fantastic character moments to keep anyone engaged.
