WWE 2K24 may be a big investment, but considering this is the best that this series has ever been, that may just be worth it to you. 2K24 is just as undeniable as the American Nightmare on its cover, and a capstone for several years running for great wrestling and great wrestling games.

Last year, I made a triumphant return to wrestling video games, having reviewed both WWE 2K23 and AEW Fight Forever. Each had its merits, but ultimately, I enjoyed the former a hell of a lot more due to an abundance of modes. While yes, I’ve grown out of the promotion’s televised product, there’s zero disputing how damn fun it is. For crying out loud, I gave it an 8.5 and praised the script writing for being scarily accurate. I admit the jump from the arcade jaunts of the past to simula...

WWE 2K24 leverages WrestleMania’s impending 40-year milestone to celebrate the event, and it proves to be a party worth attending. Enjoyable additions and smart improvements bolster its steadily improving formula, making it the strongest in-ring outing since the series’ return.

While WWE 2K24’s attempts at celebrating 40 years of WrestleMania with its new Showcase of the Immortals mode fall flat, the game’s excellent match types and the great new storylines in the MyRise mode will ensure that fans will have plenty to sink their teeth into.

While it's not a flawless masterpiece, WWE 2K24 adds the features we've been waiting for for a long while. The game takes the good-looking jacket of the previous two titles and upgrades it with better color and more elements to enjoy.

While it's not quite perfection, WWE 2K24 is the best this franchise has been in years. The WWE 2K24 roster is packed with even more on the way via post-launch DLC, and Community Creations continues to be the fan-driven cherry on top of that. MyRISE, MyGM, and Universe Mode use that foundation to deliver tenfold. MyFACTION isn't quite on their level yet, but it's the best that mode has been so far.

Beyond that, however, there are also plenty of other options. Alongside championships and custom match creation, the MyRISE game mode acts as a solid career mode, with two different strands for players to pursue. Meanwhile, MyGM takes things down more of a management and tactical approach, as the player runs their own roster of wrestlers, putting on events with the goal of beating the competition and providing the watching fans with the most entertainment possible.

WWE2K24 is more of the same. The added matches are a nice addition, but there are some caveats made here. The visuals seem off-putting, and some of the single player modes are overkill. If you're looking to slam someone to the mat with a near current roster, grab this. But be wary - it may need a little bit more time in the ring.

WWE 2K24 is a huge win for the series. If you look past the technical issues, you can see a full packaged game. However, the premier mode WrestleMania may leave you unsatisfied with how empty it can be.

WWE 2K24 is still without a doubt the undisputed champ of sports simulation games. With something for everyone, including new and current MyRise stories, new and returning gameplay mechanics, an ever increasing depth of realism with its animations, and more brutal match stipulations, WWE 2K24 is a must-play.

It’s Wrestlemania season. And now, that means another entry in the WWE 2K franchise has come around hungrier than an American Nightmare on his quest to Finish the Story. Firmly settled into a yearly rhythm now, WWE 2K24 continues to focus on refinement rather than revolution. That’s not a bad thing; the gameplay and presentation foundations from the last couple of years are solid, and it has allowed the development team to focus on making smart design tweaks and additions, rather than hav...

WWE 2K24 is a fitting tribute to the legacy of the wrestlers that came before, the talented Superstars that now thrill millions worldwide, and the future of sports entertainment in videogames, even if there is still room for improvement in the presentation and some of its game modes.

WWE 2k24‘s attempt to appeal to all of its possible audiences is an admirable goal. It is disappointing though how that effort leaves its various elements feeling either disconnected from one another or generally under-baked.

As so many of us continue to learn, nostalgia trips can turn eye-roll-inducing in a hurry. They run the risk of turning into a hackneyed compilation of things we know while sacrificing the overall quality of the end product. A cynical cash-in, as it were. WWE 2K24, it must be said, does not succumb to this particular pitfall.

WWE 2K24 continues the upward trend of WWE game releases from 2K and Visual concepts, taking what has worked so well the last couple of years and adding to it with the new features. This year’s Showcase mode is very refreshing with a focus on WrestleMania as a whole and its most iconic matches rather than focusing on a specific superstar like in the past. The dual MyRISE mode is also very well done this year, even though it still has some of the flaws that have befallen it in the past with cringy dialogue and stilted performances. Introducing enticing...

While WWE 2K24 may not be pulling up trees and earning accolades at the end of the year when compared directly to the best titles in 2024, I’d certainly go out on a limb and say it is the best sports game I’ve played in the past 12 months.

WWE 2K24 is packed with features. Some you know, while others are new or have been given fresh coats of paint. Showcase mode is worth the price of admission alone, but the diverse roster and deep systems kept me playing for hours. No matter what your story is, you’ll have fun finishing it and starting others.

WWE 2K24 is a fun game with some of the best graphics in a wrestling game ever made. However, the game is too bloated with game modes, many of which you are forced to play in order to unlock content you already paid for. 2K Games needs to stop nickel and dimeing players after the fact and refocus on giving players the best experience for their dollar.

WWE 2K24 is a gorgeous wrestling game with hard-hitting fights that will keep players plugged in for hours on end. The series seems to be settling in to the annual release trap of small steps forward over major improvements, but hopefully next year's entry can provide the big leaps that modes like MyGM need to help the WWE 2K series reach the next level and finish the comeback story that started with WWE 2K22.

The voice acting during the MyRise segments is fine for what it is. William Regal is your mentor, depending on how you choose to go and I could see myself playing it through. I never felt turned off by any part of the game, and even the tougher matches weren’t cheap. As long as I timed my counters correctly and didn’t leave myself open too often I could win more often than I lost even in situations where my character’s skill level was lower than the competition. My only complaint would be how half of MyRise and Universe feel underwhelming...

Whether you’re a fan of WWE or wrestling in general, WWE 2K24 is pretty much a must-have. As ever, it’s a comprehensive package that has something for everybody, and with its enhanced gameplay and expanded creativity options, it’s a title that you’ll likely go back to again and again. It’s assuredly the best WWE game in a very long time — and might actually be a contender for the title of best wrestling game ever.

Last year, WWE 2K put out a solid title in WWE 2K23. 2K23 came with the John Cena Showcase and new functionality for MyGM, among other new additions. But now that 2024 is here, so is a new WWE game. And for WWE 2K24, the focus during the pre-launch promotion has been all about “finishing the story,” a nod to cover athlete Cody Rhodes.

WWE 2K24 is undoubtedly one of the best wrestling games in Xbox history, but it's also a game that prioritises incremental upgrades over any kind of major overhauls, so casual fans may struggle to justify a full-price purchase. As dedicated wrestling "marks" though, we think the new MyRise stories, superb improvements to MyGM, nostalgia-driven Showcase mode, additional match types and various gameplay adjustments are all worth the price of admission.

As the calendar rapidly approaches WrestleMania 40, the eyes of the world are once again trained on WWE’s big house of muscular lads and lasses. With The Rock’s involvement in this year’s shindig raising the event’s profile to even loftier heights, WWE and 2K have pulled out all the stops to try and ensure the latest entry in their ongoing grappling simulator cuts the mustard. But have they stuck the landing, or will WWE 2K24 go down as a misfire on the road to wrestling’s most prestigious show?
