When Dishonored was first announced in 2012, I never imagined it would join the ranks of my favourite games. The gameplay, characters, and setting captured my heart and never let go. The city of Dunwall became one of the most memorable video-game settings I’d ever come across. Dishonored’s tale of revenge might be predictable or lacking to some, but the enjoyment I gained from its distinct art style and masterful gameplay is undeniable.

Dishonored 2 is a functional follow-up to a classic that is mired by the addition of all sorts of unnecessary elements.

Dishonored 2 was a pain in the ass to get running initially, but once I did, I was able to settle in for a really fun and rewarding adventure. It's a fantastic sequel that does a great job of building on the strengths of the first game and providing a few new wrinkles that make the game feel as fresh as the first one did a few years ago.

For a while I was trying to work out whether Dishonored 2 was a great game because it’s just more Dishonored, or is it actually better on its own terms? A large portion of what makes Dishonored 2 such a compelling game is indeed down to the foundation, but overall yes, it is better than Dishonored. The storyline has less twists but is much more compelling, the choices are much wider and more open so each one is equally satisfying, and most importantly: Dishonored 2 has some of the best leve...

Dishonored 2 is a safe sequel. Based on a proven formula, it does not introduce a revolution in the gameplay mechanics, but also offers some minor novelties. It's just a shame about the unused potential in terms of the plot.

Jakob: Dishonored 2 is the highly anticipated sequel to Arkane Studio’s initial masterpiece in 2012, and I am glad to say that it doesn’t disappoint. Set fifteen years after the events of Dishonored, Corvo has successfully restored Emily to the throne after being framed for her mother’s murder and Dunwall has seemingly flourished under her rule. That being said, a gruesome series of murders, conducted by the “Crown Killer”, has been targeting Emily’s enemies, leading many of t...

Dishonored 2 has expanded on the original game in a number of ways, creating a world with a bigger scale. The gameplay builds on what was offered in the first game, with more options of how to approach situations and Emily’s powers adding further variety if you choose to play as her. What lets it down is that it’s missing a truly compelling narrative and cast of interesting secondary characters, and while it’s a very enjoyable game, it lacks some of the charm of the original.

On the whole, Dishonored 2 is a bloody good game that builds upon the groundwork of its predecessor in many ways, but still remains perplexing in its stance of making you feel like you’re playing it wrong if you choose a playstyle that’s anything other than pure stealth. My advice is to ignore the mission results screen and the achievements/trophies asking you to complete the game without being detected or killing anyone and simply run with it, making use of the expanded arsenal of abilities, weapons and powers to explore its intricately detailed world and have fun while doing so....

Back in 2012, Dishonored was a title that surprised many its striking world and engaging gameplay rooted in old-school stealth, and with its sequel, Arkane Studios thoughtfully (and smartly) builds on what made the original one of the highlights of the last generation of games. Dishonored 2 will still satisfy those looking for a challenging (but rewarding) stealth experience, but more importantly does so with an incredibly varied toolset of abilities, skills, and options more than ever before. If Dishonored was the student that displayed great promise, Dishonored 2 shows the series well on its way to becoming the master.

With two unique sets of skills to play with across 10 themed chapters that keep things interesting and a gorgeous, evocative world that feels alive, Dishonored 2 is a remarkable experience. Though I would have liked a little bit more originality in its central story, which again revolves around a usurper to the throne, it’s the stories that I’ve created on my own using its many creativity-enabling powers that I’ll remember, every graceful, fumbling, and hilarious one of them. I’m compelled to create many more in the months to come.

Dishonored 2 is ultimately quite similar to the original game with subtle changes to gameplay. However its dual campaign mode should provide enough excitement and fun to fans and newcomers alike.
