With its thrilling multiplayer now backed up by a surprisingly excellent single-player campaign, Titanfall 2 is every bit the sequel I'd been hoping for.

A frenetic, enthralling, and inventive shooter in both single and multiplayer, Titanfall 2 is a spectacular beast of a game that is deserving of a place among the greats of this generation.

Titanfall 2 succeeds in being both accessible and fun, which is a nice change of pace in the modern era of shooters. It isn't the most complicated of shooters, nor is it the most refined. However, it very well may be the most fun, which is the most important thing to a gamer.

The original Titanfall was one of my favourite games to be released in 2014. Despite being a multiplayer only affair, the adrenaline rush of the gameplay was like nothing else I’d played before. A fast-paced shooter infused with hulking robot mechs known as Titans created many awe-inspiring moments that had me eager to tell my friends; stories of the times I would eject from my Titan at the last second, raining bullets down on my foes from above before landing on another Titan’s back and ...

Titanfall 2 is a fantastic multiplayer FPS that is doomed to be a hidden gem due to unfortunate timing.

Titanfall 2's innovative approach in the crowded FPS genre has not gone unnoticed, and the near flawless gameplay execution and eye for technical detail once again proves Respawn are here to play ball.

It’s very unfortunate and unlucky for Titanfall 2 to release in between the 2 big titles with well-established communities: Battlefield 1 and Call Of Duty: Infinite Warfare. Even if the sales figures are not what EA and Respawn were expecting, Titanfall 2 is the best of the bunch — the underdog that deserves the spotlight. Respawn has delivered another brilliant game with an engaging story, outstanding musical score, and intense multiplayer action. Titanfall 2 deserves the spot in your library of games; and this is now one of my Top 5 Best Games of 2016.

If you love first person shooters, good sci-fi or giant robots, I implore you not to ignore this game just because of that sandwich. Titanfall 2 deserves your attention.

An explosively amazing campaign, the same solid multiplayer with new modes and mechanics, lots of customization and excellent performance - Titanfall 2 is a keeper.

November 3, 2016 Read Review

In the end, Titanfall 2 has succeeded in surpassing the original title in every way. It delivers an emotional, action-packed single player experience that will leave fans new and old feeling satisfied, and the fluid combat mechanic both in and out of one's titan packs plenty of punches and doesn't hold back when it comes to the visceral brutality of pilot warfare. There's a fine balance between fluid movement and packing a satisfying punch, and Titanfall 2 has struck a fine chord here – the end result is that Titanfall 2 has far exceeded its expectations and delivered one of the best gaming experiences of the year, and likely deserves much more fanfare than it will get.

Titanfall 2 effortlessly improves on the original release's deep multiplayer gameplay and adds in a memorable single player campaign that stands out from the pack. All that and a bundle of explosive ninja stars make this a must play FPS.

The second time's the charm as Respawn perfect their mech combat and parkour formula.

If Respawn had simply doubled-down and released the multiplayer for Titanfall 2 as it exists now, I would still easily recommend it. They’ve tweaked the existing formula in deeply satisfying ways that extend the life of the game immensely. However, by adding a truly surprising and impeccably designed single-player campaign that is consistently fun to play, as a package Titanfall 2 is the most pure, minute-to-minute fun I’ve had with any game this year.

The multiplayer is where the longevity of the game lies and I’m hoping it carries on much longer than the first Titanfall. Many of the concerns people had in the first game have been addressed, namely the number of titan chassis available. Three titans has turned into six, each with a distinct loadout this time. You can customize how your titan looks as well as some passive, but the active abilities are now all tied to a titan class. At first glance this may seem needlessly restrictive, but it makes for a better gameplay experience. You can now tell exactly what an enemy titan is capable of by the way it looks, allowing you to make better strategic decisions. Well, that’s the theory anyway. I tend to rush in head first and swing my giant mech sword with limited success but hey, I’m not going pro. My teammates won’t even notice a lot of the time since deaths aren’t reported to team statistics, something that’s been happening recently with online games. All that’s reported is your kills and score, how much you contributed to your team rather than how much you contributed to the other team. This helps reduce some excessive toxicity especially when you’re just spreading your wing and leaving the safety of the campaign nest.

Respawn Entertainment managed to take the foundation of the first Titanfall and craft a great campaign along with an improved multiplayer experience, making the sequel a fantastic game that any FPS fan should check out.

One of the best first person shooters of the generation, with significant improvements in depth and longevity – and even a half decent story mode.

October 28, 2016 Read Review

It’s rare that a sequel evolves on every part of the original concept so consistently for the better, but Titanfall 2 is that exception. Its feelgood movement is the foundation for both the engaging action and platforming gameplay of its strong campaign and its over-the-top competitive multiplayer. With bolstered progression, customization, variety, and a fleshed-out story, Respawn has made good on its original vision with Titanfall 2. And bottom line, it’s just damn fun to play.

The original Titanfall put the FPS genre on notice when it released in 2014 on the Xbox 360/Xbox One and Windows platforms. Now, over two and a half years later, Respawn Entertainment is back with Titanfall 2, this time also launching on the PlayStation 4, and including a proper single-player campaign. So, has this talented team cooked up a sequel that’s better than the original? Or was Titanfall best left as a one-off series?

On the one hand, you have Respawn’s short, but fun single player that’s more free and open than most FPS campaigns, and on the other, a multiplayer that’s an iterative improvement on an already fantastic game. In other words, Titanfall 2 is as exhilarating and refreshing now as the original was back in 2014.

Respawn’s rich history in the first-person shooter genre certainly isn’t lost in Titanfall 2. The development team cites Half-Life as a major influence and told us at a review event that they’d hoped to emulate a lot of Valve’s seminal shooter in their own game. While that’s always going to be a lofty goal, it feels like Respawn has aimed as high as possible, and even if the team didn’t quite achieve the ground-breaking success of Half-Life, they certainly made a campaign worth pl...

Titanfall 2 realizes the dreams of its predecessor. It looks amazing, plays fantastically, and is finely tuned in virtually every aspect, from the crisp sound design to smooth platforming. But, it also is held back by some of the conventions of its genre; namely, bland characters, a shallow Oo-ra space marine plot, and a multiplayer mode that is god, but still ventures into the same familiar territory as its contemporaries. The addition of a single-player campaign was a huge positive for this series, especially due to the bizarre twists and turns it takes throughout. In a year filled with outstanding shooters in both the single and multiplayer fronts, Titanfall 2 does just enough to prove it can hang with the others, even if it is re-treading old ground.

October 24, 2016 Read Review

When the first Titanfall was released, it garnered praise for pitting players against each other in the future as wall-running, submachine gun-toting pilots capable of calling down and controlling massive mechanized death machines. However, the game also received a good deal of criticism for lacking a single-player component. The sequel seeks to satisfy those in search of a more story-driven singular experience and succeeds. If the original Titanfall was a proof of concept, then the sequel is a fantastic and polished second draft that deftly uses all of the qualities that made the first game so bold and fresh.
