Bug-wise the game is in good shape now five years after release, though the move to 60fps has led to some physics wonkiness. Floating NPCs, odd pathing, and the occasional hitch in performance didn’t ruin things though as the silky smooth framerate made both the ground and naval combat as good as ever.

Assassin's Creed Odyssey is an outstanding addition to the franchise that further builds on the fresh new foundations laid down by its predecessor Origins. With deep RPG elements, tons of loot, unlockable skills and an overwhelming array of side quests and activities surrounding an epic main campaign that's set in one of the most impressive game worlds we've ever seen, this one is an essential purchase for AC fans and anyone who loves an epic RPG adventure. It may threaten to buckle under its own weight from time to time but, overall, we reckon this is the best Assassin's Creed...

It was yet another good game from Ubisoft and I always like to be an Assassin again. I look forward to seeing if the next Assassin’s Creed game will be just as big as Odyssey, although not too big please.

Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed series got a new start on Assassin’s Creed Origins about one year ago, and now they are back with a new title – Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. This time, the game is taking you to ancient Greece with familiar yet different gameplay mechanics. We enjoyed the game on PC these days, so here is our Assassin’s Creed Odyssey review where we will explain our thoughts about the game!

Assassin’s Creed has been a series that has become a cornerstone in modern gaming. After a smash hit release it went from being a hot ticket item to a little bit of a joke with yearly releases that felt hollow and more like cash grabs than any kind of advancement. It came as a shock then when the team at Ubisoft decided to take a break and return to the series with a revamped approach to the time travelling assassin simulation with Assassin’s Creed Origins. When it was announced a follow ...

Alexios is one of the most memorable protagonists in all of Assassin’s Creed, even if I never once actually thought of him as an assassin. In a lesser game, he’d probably be forgettable. But Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is superb in nearly every aspect. It’s the most impressive Assassin’s Creed, even though sometimes it feels like it’s Assassin’s Creed in name only. It’s as broad as Atlas’ shoulders and as strong as Hercules. This time, Ubisoft hit a real Homer.

Having successfully tested AC Origins, Ubisoft sent all its forces into battle with the order: "Make me the killer of The Witcher 3!" Assassin's Creed Odyssey does not emerge victorious from the clash with the Polish RPG - but it still comes back with a shield.

But, if you’ve built a sufficiently nice world for me to run around in, I like just running around in it. There’s a lot of busy work, an eagle, and stabbing people brutally through the throat. Sometimes when you jump off a high thing you land in a load of hay. It has more breadth than depth, like a wide puddle reflecting a really nice landscape. Basically, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is a very good Assassin’s Creed game. Which is what we were all expecting, wasn’t it? Except this one lets me ignore all that and roleplay as a big buff...

Odyssey is a better, and certainly bigger, Assassin’s Creed game than any before it. The sheer number of moving parts can be intimidating but this is a special adventure that must be savoured.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is huge. Each new boundary is broken down the moment you reach it, the game world spilling out and expanding further and further than you can possibly imagine. It is big in the same way the Great Pyramids or Empire State Building are big, the result of untold amounts of labor and artistry distilled into something remarkable yet intimidating. It’s not a sandbox. It is a world, with all of the beauty, anxiety, and inconsistency that entails.

Many mythological traditions involve some form of demigod, an exceptional individual born from the union of a human and a deity. These heroes accomplish astounding things thanks to their divine heritage, but their mortal sides keep them from joining the ranks of true gods. Assassin’s Creed Odyssey exists in the same place between two realms. With vast improvements to combat and progression, no other Assassin’s Creed had made players feel this capable and powerful. However, Odyssey struggles to find appropriate ways to exercise that power, presenting a vision of Ancient Greece that relies more on familiar routine than legendary feats.

You'll struggle to find a more immersive and rewarding setting in which to forge your own odyssey. A detailed environment combining both the realistic and mythical aspects of Ancient Greece, everything comes together to deliver a narrative-driven, open-world RPG that rivals the biggest names in the genre. Put simply, Assassin's Creed Odyssey is the complete package.

Assassin's Creed Odyssey gets off to a bit of a slow start with a lengthy tutorial island that introduces the many mechanics and features to players. Gamers who manage to make it through that grind will discover a massive open-world map full of naval combat, treasures, and RPG gameplay loops. The best part of Odyssey is just how much it allows players to invest in their interests. Love to sneak? Stick to the Assassin talent tree and stay out of sight. Want to sail around recruiting soldiers and sinking enemy boats? There's a big ocean out there for you to...

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is a resounding achievement in world building, environment, and engaging gameplay with occasional problems throughout. Its incredible recreation of ancient Greece is something I’ll want to go back to long after I’ve finished its main story, and its excellent systems mesh together in a way that’s hard to beat. While there are definite rough edges, Odyssey sets a new bar for Assassin’s Creed games and holds its own in the eternal debate over the best open-world roleplaying games ever.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey throws so much stuff at you, it’s difficult to sift through it all. It’s a beautiful game to look at and the story is intriguing, but it feels like a game that could have been a little more ambitious if given more time to develop. There’s good ideas, from the branching story and character choice to the return of ship-based combat, but its ambitions also fray around the edges in a way that Origins didn’t.

Not since Breath of the Wild have I enjoyed an open world game this much. With so much to see and do, Assassin's Creed Odyssey is one of, it not the best, game in the Assassin's Creed franchise—and absolutely a game of the year contender.

Instead, you assume the role of Kassandra or her sibling Alexios, both mercenaries born long before the Brotherhood sharpened its first wrist-blade. Not too worry though, as you’ll still spend most of your time slitting throats and spilling innards with cinematic style to spare. Some things never change.

I feel that the step that Ubisoft Quebec took to make this experience more immersive and personal for gamers was a strong move, and they did it with style and a competence that greatly benefits the game as a whole. If these are the kind of evolutions we have to look forward to in the future, I eagerly await the ...

It’s nearly impossible to summarize a game this big, or this complete. Assassin’s Creed Odyssey lives up to its Homeric namesake in scope and scale, adding fantastic new elements to the solid foundation Origins laid before it. For me, it’s easily the best Assassin’s Creed game to date, and I can’t wait to keep playing it long after the credits roll.

Assassin's Creed Odyssey isn't just one of the best Assassin's Creed games there has ever been, it's one of the most exceptional action RPGs that I've played this console generation. While only a few years ago I was left wondering what this franchise's future would be, now I'm more excited than I have been in quite some time to see where Ubisoft continues to take Assassin's Creed from here.
