Baldur's Gate 3 is a gold standard for RPGs, setting the bar incredibly high for future games in the genre - and it's something I know I'll be coming back to time and time again in the future.

An amazing cRPG, truly deserving of the praise that it has received. There are some performance issues on the Steam Deck, but it remains fully playable and definitely worth a recommendation!

Baldur's Gate 3 is a genuine all-timer, this really is as good as RPGs get, and it's an all-timer that's arrived on Series X in fine form aside from a pesky issue with deleted saves. Returning to Baldur's Gate and successfully serving up the best entry in the series to date must have been an absolutely monumental task, but Larian Studios has managed it with style to spare. With top class combat, writing, acting and world-building hiding all of the terrifying intricacies of a refreshed D&D rulebook, letting us players just get on with the fun stuff, there really is...

Larian Studios took its time with Baldur's Gate III, and certainly didn't skimp on its content. After taking some time ourselves to fully digest it, we are ready to offer thoughts on the very impressive release product.

It's been a while but I finally got around to playing Baldur's Gate 3 and yes; it is indeed as awesome as folks have been saying it is.

The Baldur’s Gate games are my most played across both time and platforms. I played the OGs and Enhanced Editions on PC. Then on iPad when they released there, and they’re on my Android phone now. Finally, there’s the shockingly fantastic console ports I have on PS4 and Nintendo Switch. The only other franchise that’s done more to define and shape my taste in gaming is Diablo, and Blizzard has shown laughable care for their legacy compared to Larian’s for somebody else’s. Because ...

An incredible detailed and large game, Baldur's Gate 3 is a joy for RPG fans and fans of the pen and paper game as well.

The scope of Baldur’s Gate 3 is scandalously large and, what’s more, Larian Studios manages to make good on every detail. It’s up there with the greats, an adventure that any avid role-player will revel in, and one that few will ever regret embarking on.

If you can only purchase a single game for a couple of years because budget is tight, Baldur’s Gate 3 should be the one. The amount of content and the sheer quality in display almost makes it feel like a steal, a game that grows on you and eats the hours away, invading your dreams and making you count the time until you return to it. This is the game of the year, maybe more than that.

If any video game truly deserves the mildly ludicrous 'AAAA' moniker, it's Baldur's Gate 3. Larian Studios' latest is a roleplaying experience of the first order, a work of vanishing beauty made in the old ways to modern specifications. This third instalment in the long-dormant series effortlessly makes spiritual progenitors Mass Effect and Dragon Age look like tentative first steps on a grander adventure; Larian's own immaculate Divinity: Original Sin 2, a first draft in comparison.

Baldur's Gate 3 is an exquisite example of a role-playing game, and an incredible recreation of the Dungeons & Dragons experience. It is, in a word, unmissable.

Baldur's Gate 3 is a game that only happens once every ten years. It's the culmination of years of early access and passion from Larian Studios, a deep love for the source material, and the desire to create something that speaks to as many people as possible. With an absurd amount of replay value and dozens of possibilities for where your character will end up, this is easily on the shortlist for Game Of The Year 2023, and an argument could already be made that this is one of the greatest games of all time.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is the perfect example of what a talented, passionate team which takes the time to listen to community feedback is capable of doing in gaming. They made all the right choices where it counted by getting the best people for the job, from the storytellers, actors, technical developers, and more. What we’re left with is a memorable experience that provides more value than many games which had a lot more money thrown at them, and the community has almost universally shown their appreciation for that. There isn’t much more to say other than more of the same...

Larian Studios has made something truly incredible, and even as the studio continues to fine-tune and polish with post-launch patches, Baldur’s Gate 3 feels like something absolutely worth playing now, and even more in the future. Baldur’s Gate 3 is a legendary RPG, and one that anyone with a love of storytelling, strategizing, or just thirsty for a few fantasy companions should take the time to experience.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is a great adventure that's fun to be in. I adore this game despite all the potential pitfalls. Its freedom and possibilities really stand out – I think about the only game that could rival this RPG would be Fallout: New Vegas.

Baldur's Gate 3 rolls a natural 20 in all aspects. From the characters and story, to the gameplay and graphics, I highly enjoyed my time with Larian Studios' latest title, and I'm still playing and discovering things to do. Despite the few criticisms, none of them overshadow the incredible things this game achieves.

Minor gripes aside, Baldur's Gate 3 is a new benchmark for what RPGs can be. Its wealth of variety in how its story can unfold, and the insane amount of options for how players can approach different combat and exploration scenarios, make it a must play for just about anyone. It wouldn't be a stretch to say this is the kind of game we'll still be talking about ten years from now, and it more than earns this feat.

Playing Baldur’s Gate 3 is an exercise in wonder. How could anyone manage to make a game of this scope, execution, and quality? It’s thrilling, it’s emotional, and it’s incredibly wacky, all at the same time. The sense of freedom and reactivity is unlike anything I’ve played for years, maybe even ever. and all of that is only heightened by a world that feels simultaneously whimsical and horrifying. Baldur’s Gate 3 is a game we’ll be looking back on for years to come.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is a surprisingly human tale. That may sound strange to say about a game with space lizards and brain worms at its center, but behind the hags and psychic tadpoles, Baldur’s Gate 3 is about a group of very broken people trying to find their way in life and maybe save the world. Or turn it into a smoldering heap of agony and misery. It depends on how you feel that day. Whether you choose peace or something less savory, Baldur’s Gate 3’s intricate writing and impressive emphasis on experimentation make it one of the most unforgettable...

Baldur's Gate 3 is the most successful and authentic take on D&D in the tabletop franchise's 50-year history. Its complexity and size might be daunting for novices, but the breadth and depth of Baldur's Gate 3's world make this a once-in-a-generation achievement.

Baldur’s Gate 3 deserves the title of Game of the Year, plain and simple. Having sunk around 100 hours into the game since its launch, and with the city of Baldur’s Gate still a distant sight, it’s a challenge to tear myself away from the captivating narrative I’ve woven. Both my impressions from the early access phase and my time with the full release have remained consistent: the game is a masterpiece.

Read Full ReviewIt’s been more than 20 years since the last Baldur’s Gate instalment revitalised computer role-playing games, ahead of consoles and big-budget 3D action RPGs showing up to dilute the genre. How many games can say they’ve been decades in the making? Certainly none that are as eagerly awaited as Larian Studios’ latest effort.

Since the cRPG genre actually became a thing, many developers tried to adapt the Dungeons & Dragons tabletop experience to a video game format, with varying degrees of success. However, no game ever came close to achieving this than the Baldur's Gate series, whose two main entries are still today among the best role-playing games ever made.

Larian's RPG is an incredible world to get lost in, and though it may take you 100 hours, you will want to play again. It's the best Dungeons & Dragons game anyone has made, and probably will ever make. Unless there's a sequel in another 20 years.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is something special, though. Its complexity is intimidating, but sticking with it and learning has such a high reward threshold that it's hard to not recommend the sequel to even the most casual gamers out there. It has heart, it has style, and it has the multi-year effort of a studio that obviously loves its source material. The mind-blowing size of the game itself and everything contained within is a testament to Larian Studios' dedication to its craft and commitment to bringing something incredible to the gaming public. I don't want to say every CRPG going forward should aspire to be like Baldur's Gate 3. Not everything needs to be nearly this big and ambitious, or even this dense. But it is a landmark moment in the genre, and if I had to point to one paragon that I would like everyone else making these to take inspiration from, this is absolutely it. I waited 14 years for the stars to align again so that we could get the ideal mix of crunchy, tactical, old-school RPG combat, an epic and well-written story with complex characters and lots of...
