Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is a great game, but the current state of this PC port isn’t ideal to say the least. It has crashes, glitches, and even performance issues unless you have a massive surplus of hardware to throw at it. If you do have that, it can look absolutely stunning with some of the best ray tracing out there, but you’re still going to run into issues like loading. The game will get patched and become great eventually, but right now it’s difficult to recommend.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is the triumphant continuation of an already spectacular series that raised the bar of superhero games. While each Spider-Man has been the star of their own game, Spider-Man 2 allows both Peter and Miles to flourish as they take on Kraven, Venom and an entire collection of meticulously crafted villains.

Spider-Man is definitely my favorite superhero, and I absolutely love everything about the character since he was relatable to me than most other Marvel heroes. Growing up I played all the Spider-Man games I could get my hands, and it has been amazing seeing how great the newer games have gotten as technology continues to improve. So needless to say I was extremely excited to see Insomniac Studios (one of my favorite developers) being the next studio to take a swing with Spider-Man, and the...

Insomniac had its work cut out for it with Spider-Man 2. To say expectations were high going into this sequel is an understatement, buffered by both the first game's major success and the bridge between console generations that was Miles Morales. So how does it stack up?

On the surface, not a lot has changed with the follow-up to everyone’s favorite web-slinging game. You still swing around the city at breakneck speeds and gracefully beat up bad guys. Then like any other PlayStation exclusive, you consistently have segments of the game forcefully stuffing its “Cinematic Experience” in your piehole. This time, however, there’s a number two in the title and with it, two Spider-Men to swing around with.

To say that, like the first one, Marvel’s Spider-Man is the perfect Spider-Man game is true. However, that statement is also a disservice. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is as close to a perfect game as I have ever played. In a year when even the best games have had to scratch and claw for their moment in the sun, Insomniac’s latest title is a standout experience. From the main story to side missions and collectibles, meaningful narrative rewards players at every turn. It’s the most fun I’ve ever had getting a platinum, because every aspect rewards you for engaging with it....

An objectively good game, the latest Spider-Man title expands on what made its predecessor great—wish fulfillment, emotion, and showing the human side of both Peter Parker and Miles Morales.

Please, Insomniac, complete the story you’ve built and give us one more Spider-Man game (and some DLC for this one, too). You’ve proven when you work as a team, anything is possible.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 takes the previous two games and improves upon them in almost every manner while still feeling comfortably familiar. Insomniac Games proves, once again, that it is one of the best developers in the business, as it continues to perfect its open-world formula with this fun and visually stunning sequel.

Spider-Man 2 is a curious entry — the second of three, technically — of Insomniac’s Marvel’s Spider-Man offering, merging canon equally as plotting the course of its own orignal work. Things are familiar, yet not.

It's hard to find fault in a game that will no doubt have you hankering for a radioactive spider bite of your own. Reality being what it is, you’re better off playing Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 over and over again.

We all wish we could feel like a superhero. Not in the “everyday hero” way, but in a bona fide super-power, save the world sense. There’s a reason why “If you could have one superpower, what would it be?” is a common icebreaker in the workplace, just like how superhero movies are constantly at the top of the box office (for better or worse). It’s an ultimate power fantasy, one that we imagine from when we’re kids, all the way through to adulthood. Video games, of course, are a b...

It’s abundantly clear that this series isn’t over yet, and I hope that Insomniac never really stops working on superhero games. There’s so much of the Spider-Man mythos that’s untapped so far, and you could keep this gravy train running with some crazier ideas once this presumed trilogy is over. As long as Insomniac is on board, I’ll be along for the ride.

If anything, Spider-Man 2 could have benefited from cutting out the Mary Jane sections and trimming a few of the side quests to make it an even leaner, more perfectly-paced game. But even with some flaws, Spider-Man 2 is still a spectacular experience and the best entry in Insomniac's Spider-Man game universe to date. It delivers everything hardcore Spider-Man fans would want, with breathtaking battles against some of the hero's most iconic villains, and a gorgeous open-world New York City to experience it all in. It's certainly in the conversation as a Game of the Year contender and a must-buy...

I went into Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 expecting it to be one of my favorite games this year and still walked away impressed by what the developer was able to pull off. Both story and gameplay have taken large steps forward, and I’m fully convinced that there is no studio that could make Spider-Man games better than Insomniac Games. It’s a massive win for the Insomniac, for PlayStation Studios, and for longtime fans of Spider-Man.

A stunning achievement both technically and narratively, Spider-Man 2 makes every moment of gameplay feel epic while still delivering a great story with a ton of heart. The creators at Insomniac know and love these characters, and that care manifests both in the quieter moments and in the jaw-dropping cinematic action scenes. Thrilling, gut-wrenching, and visually spectacular, this is among the best representations of Spider-Man in any media. An absolute no-brainer for every PlayStation 5 owner, Spider-Man 2 shows what your system is truly capable of.

When Marvel's Spider-Man was released in September 2018 for the PlayStation 4 console, it had been 14 years since the launch of Spider-Man 2. That game developed by Treyarch was long considered to be the golden standard of game adaptations based on Marvel's friendly neighborhood superhero from Queens, mostly thanks to the excellent web-swinging mechanics and the innovative open world experience for a game crafted for sixth-generation consoles like the PlayStation 2, GameCube, and Xbox.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is a spectacular adventure that will keep you on the edge as its riveting story unfolds.

Being the sequel to two excellent games is not a guarantee of success. But it does set strong expectations. Thankfully, Spider-Man 2 meets and exceeds those expectations, providing uniformly stellar superhero action characterized by blazing-fast combat, smart mission design, and regular injections of thrilling set-pieces. Behind all that excitement, it also houses a fervent and heartfelt commentary on second chances, rehabilitation, and redemption. As a result, even in its dark moments, Spider-Man 2 delivers a wholesome and optimistic adventure rooted in joy.

Insomniac Games‘ Spider-Man has butted heads with The Rhino, gone toe-to-toe with fellow half-mechanical octopod Doc Ock, and survived a near-fatal trip against Scorpion, but none of those climactic showdowns have pitted the web-slinger against his greatest enemy: himself. Peter Parker’s insecurities have been made flesh with the symbiote, a goopy alien suit that gives him incredible powers at a heavy mental cost. When Spider-Man wins, Peter Parker loses.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is one of the most cinematic superhero games ever created. It’s a little shorter than its predecessor, but it includes a memorable main story and some of the best side quests found in an open world game. Kraven ends up being a more compelling villain than originally thought, and whenever Venom and his symbiotic abilities appear, it’s an absolute treat. On top of this, swinging across New York has never felt so good, and the addition of the glider is welcome. While the combat hasn’t changed drastically, smaller additions such as the web line gadget create a...

With Marvel's Spider-Man, Insomniac Games knocked it out of the park on its first try. While structurally it's a fairly standard open world action adventure, it's elevated by a great cast of characters, a solid story, and some of the best traversal in the business. It ticked all the boxes, and Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales is a great sidestep with its own flavour. With two fan-pleasing blockbusters under its belt, then, we arrive at the much-anticipated Marvel's Spider-Man 2, but can it trump the already great games that came before?
