An even more gripping and heartfelt story than the last, incredibly broadened combat, immersive exploration, and a much deeper assortment of customisation and RPG elements make this Jedi experience your own whilst simultaneously remaining the intimate tale of Cal Kestis and his crew.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor massively expands upon the first game by adding a more mature and interesting story, improving the battle system with the implementation of weapon stances and adding multiple visually stunning planets to explore. It is unfortunately plagued with technical issues again and failure to improve the worst parts of Fallen Order left us a little disappointed.

Respawn Entertainment shocked everyone in 2019, not just by releasing a new Star Wars game (something totally different for the company that made its reputation from first-person shooters), but by releasing an actual good Star Wars game. I would even go as far as to say that Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order was one of the best Star Wars products to be released in a very long time. Fans were hopeful for a sequel to the successful entry, and now four years later, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is finally...

This is a solid Star Wars game with excellent combat, great immersion for fans, and an engaging story. It looks great at most times, but runs poorly overall and needs patches for PC before it gets a solid buy recommendation.

Even with the frame rate dips, occasional fuzzy textures, and uneven pacing, this game is a phenomenal sequel, a fantastic Star Wars game, and just a straight-up great game. This is currently my favorite Star Wars game, hands down. Between the stellar writing, exploration, traversal, and combat, Survivor offers a powerful experience, and one well worth having. Whether you want to wait a bit for a few more patches or you just want to jump in now, this game is worth your time. In a year full of exciting releases, Survivor will endure near the top of the pack without...

The story of Cal Kestis continues in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor™, a third-person, galaxy-spanning, action-adventure game from Respawn Entertainment, developed in collaboration with Lucasfilm Games. This narratively driven, single-player title picks up 5 years after the events of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order™ and follows Cal’s increasingly desperate fight as the galaxy descends further into darkness. Pushed to the edges of the galaxy by the Empire, Cal will find himself surrounded by threats new and familiar. As one of the last surviving Jedi Knights, Cal is driven to make a stand during the galaxy’s darkest times — but how far...

STAR WARS Jedi: Survivor has everything a fantastic game should have as far as features. Sadly, what it lacks is optimisation from its developers. This has greatly hindered one's ability to enjoy the experience on all platforms.

Currently, the technical issues are impossible to ignore. There is certainly hope that Respawn will improve upon these issues over time, however your Jedi: Survivor experience will likely be impacted by bugs for the time being. Despite this, the vision behind Jedi: Survivor is clear and still remarkably enjoyable. From the over one hundred Star Wars games released since the dawn of the science fiction franchise, for me, Jedi: Survivor stands at the top.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor tells a great story, but is let down by jank, restrictive traversal, and misuse of its characters

There was a time not too long ago where the only Star Wars content we got were comic books, novels and mountains upon mountains of video games. While a few of them had the shelf life of milk (we’re looking at you Kinect Star Wars), there were some fantastic games like Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic and Star Wars The Force Unleashed. However, the Star Wars extended universe changed in 2012 when the House of Mouse purchased LucasFilm. Things are decidedly different in 2023.

Cal Kestis returns for another thrilling adventure in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, the highly anticipated sequel to the critically acclaimed Jedi: Fallen Order. With a team of talented developers from Respawn, EA, and Lucasfilm Games working tirelessly behind the scenes, Jedi: Survivor promises to be an exceptional action narrative.

The intervening years between games have resulted in changed characters that provide a gravitas to Survivor that the naïveté of Cal in the first game could never approach. Jedi: Survivor deftly balances a cast of characters all carrying their separate baggage. Cal has been relentlessly fighting the Empire hoping to avenge the massacre of the Jedi Order, but teeters on the edge of disillusionment with his cause; Cere Junda strives to preserve what she can of the Jedi tradition in the face of the Sith's overwhelming dominance; Greez Dritus struggles to recover both physically and mentally from the loss of...

The best way to describe Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is “safe.” Much like with Jedi: Fallen Order, it is clear that Respawn has a lot of good ideas for this franchise and wants to draw from a variety of influences to make something special, but it ultimately ends up making a pastiche of AAA game mechanics and fixings that are serviceable but not very refined. Jedi: Survivor doesn't have the same novelty and luster that Fallen Order had behind it, so when it rests on its laurels like this, the whole package feels underwhelming. When coupled with a clunky story...

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor expands on the foundations of its predecessor by crafting a bigger, more fleshed-out, and customizable Jedi experience.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is a great continuation of Cal Kestis’ journey. The story is a little predictable and platforming could be sharper, but this is a sequel that builds on the ideas of the original and there’s real enjoyment to be had in exploring the expansive new worlds, digging into the lore and running into secret boss fights.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor reflects the storytelling pedigree that Respawn Entertainment is known for. Despite it being a deviation in genre from the first entry, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor builds upon familiar gameplay while expanding exploration, combat, and more. Despite the visual performance issues experienced, these didn’t detract from wanting more and finding out how Cal’s story concludes. You might find the overall gameplay loop a bit overwhelming, but there is a meaty, emotional journey that lies ahead, Jedi.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is a fantastic definition of what a sequel should be. Its overall presentation showed that Respawn and the amazing team of developers listened to the criticism. From the improvements to combat, to exploration, to even just finding ways to add more depth to the characters, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is the Star Wars game that fans have been waiting for.

STAR WARS Jedi: Survivor continues Respawn’s run as one of the best in the industry. It is an incredible accomplishment, blending top-tier gameplay and narrative in a package few games can match. Performance during my review was rough, but if they can smooth it out then this is a game that no one should miss. For fans of STAR WARS, this is the game we have been waiting for. One that fixes the mistakes of the previous, and soars to heights we could have only dreamed of.

No surprises here. Survivor doubles down on Fallen Order, deepening the Jedi power fantasy and expanding on its predecessor in every way, though all its choice and freedom does limit both the story and, surprisingly, the combat.

It’s been four years removed since Cal Kestis’ first journey across the galaxy as a young Jedi Padawan in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order was released and five years of time separating the stories. In that time, gamers have seen the rise of two new consoles and a new generation. Since foregoing the last-gen versions, has Respawn Entertainment captured the excitement for another entry in Cal Kestis’ tale in a post-Rise of the Skywalker world in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor?
Read Full ReviewThe game never overstays its welcome, and there’s plenty to do after the credits roll to keep any combat-hungry or collector junkie sticking around with Cal and BD-1 for several hours. It strikes the right balance of gameplay and time commitment that respects its audience, never demanding more. It was a pleasure to spend time with Cal and the Mantis crew again in a galaxy far, far away.

If the only thought in your mind upon completing 2019’s Jedi: Fallen Order was that you wanted more, then I have excellent news. Picking up where its predecessor left off, Jedi: Survivor isn’t just more of the same but more of virtually everything, with meaningful advances and improvements across the board. It’s a longer game with greater levels of customization, more enemies, more diverse approaches to combat and puzzles, and more storytelling and character development for its compelling cast of characters. While some structural and story choices start to wear thin, Jedi: Survivor is nonetheless a step up in almost...

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is a marked improvement upon the first game, despite suffering from some of the woes I had with the 2019 title. Cal Kestis’ journey across the galaxy is fraught with danger and the supporting cast are a treat to chat with whether in the midst of a mission or as you explore Koboh. While the combat and movement is still quintessentially Star Wars, it feels like the game has yet to reach its full potential. The good news is that, if you’re a Star Wars fan, you’re going to have a great time in this galaxy.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is an excellent sequel that sometimes struggles to rein in its ambition, but takes everything great about Fallen Order and builds on it. Cal's new adventure is a mature, twisting narrative that establishes a new group of heroes and challenges what a modern Star Wars story can be.

It’s a shame that Star Wars Jedi: Survivor isn’t a little more polished, as it really takes the sheen off this bigger, bolder sequel. The story may take a while to really get going, but once it does, it has some fantastic, explosive scenes that truly make an impact. And while there is some fan-service, it tries to keep it to a minimum. Ultimately, this is a must-play for any Star Wars fan, and it leaves us excited about what’s next for Cal Kestis.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor builds on the foundation established in Fallen Order and delivers expansive environments crammed with content and secrets. Respawn still falls into some of the same pitfalls that it did in Fallen Order, though, namely in its underwhelming linear sections and middling story.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order built a solid foundation on which to build a sequel, and Respawn Entertainment has happily obliged. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor takes what worked in that first game and expands it significantly. It's bigger, grander and more ambitious, with a few trade-offs. While the story isn't as personal, the events feel more significant and have greater consequences for Star Wars as a whole. It also helps that the story remains intriguing and engaging throughout its lengthy campaign. The design is fair, with well-laid-out levels, enemy placements and plenty of incentive to return or start a New...

After a lackluster reboot of the Star Wars Battlefront and a widely-panned sequel (which ended up being a great game after a few years of updates), fans were fed up with EA’s handling of the Star Wars game license. However, Respawn’s Metroidvania, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order was a huge success and showed that a big-budget single-player title set in the franchise could still sell millions. So, it was no surprise when Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, a sequel set five years after the original, was announced.

No matter how good or bad its mainline movie entries have been as of late, the Star Wars series is one of few franchises so uniquely positioned in the public consciousness that it's probably never going away again. But while The Rise of Skywalker has some hardcore fans begging for a break, it's the likes of Andor that prove quality stories can still be told in the galaxy far, far away. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order did the same for the IP's video games, delivering a fantastic experience off the back of the controversial Star Wars Battlefront 2. Roughly three...
